I think the bloke should test drive a few but not rush anything. Plenty of new cars expected.
I had an A6 saloon for the day in September when my meagre A3 was serviced. It didn't feel special enough - and I liked them before getting the A3. I'd prefer a top spec current A4 over an A6. Until the A6 is replaced.

I had a quick shufty around a V90 on the way home last night, before the salesman got out his elephant gun and chased me from the premises. Ohboyohboyohboy. that's the one for me.
Then I got home and scraped the star badge off the Merc's boot lid with the automated garage door. 'Kin 'ell.

May not be the same with the S212 but the S211's tailgate star has looked vulnerable all the time we've had ours. The star is a flat casting but it's fixed to a curved part of the tailgate, which means there are gaps top and bottom, waiting for something to snag it.
That said, of course, after four-and-a-half years, it's still there.

It's actually the ring around my star which has gorn. The three points are still there, although the south-westerly one is a bit blunter.
Replacements are about £25 on ebay. Maybe I'll bother if I ever sell the car.

One lives in a house or owns a car which needs attention and yet we only fix it up when we come to sell it, so we don't get the benefit of our purchase.... ooops..... directed at Al's post, not yours WDB!

You tell us. We've not seen it.
As if to prove my earlier point, there was a leaf stuck in my ring this morning.
If Al's ring is cracked, could he fix it with ring binder?

I'm a surveyor, right? So you'd think I live in a palace, everything perfect, no defects?? pah! It took me months to get my downspout re-connected to the gutters after a storm. I have two slipped slates and the external timber need decorating. The tiles in our kitchen are cracked because they don't get on with the underfloor heating, despite new floorboards being laid for the purpose... Cobblers children and all that.

I've never had any problems with my rear ring. And it doesn't protrude or catch leaves. Gets a bit cold when we're on mountain biking trips sometimes though.
