True, she cannot sack him but there will be many advisors who can help guide Boris in his hour of need.
Edit: resigned or pushed by the 1922 committee ?

Pushed by the 1922 — or at least told unequivocally that that would be the next step.
Wants to stay on, though, until a successor is chosen. Still deludedly hoping he can buy enough time to win people round and that the whole thing will just blow over.

I dunno about anyone with SB initials, I think the UK needs Sam Allerdyce to save it from relegation.
Downing Street will look like Glastonbury the morning after tomorrow morning after the party tonight. Gove on the decks with his magic mix.

I had rather hoped he'd go down whilst I was abroad, and not looking at any internets. Then to come home to find out he's gone would have been a nice way to banish the end-of-holiday blues.
I see he's trying to cling on as long as possible though. No surprises there. And blaming everyone but himself. No surprises there. Saddest thing though is that I fear what comes next. We need rid of is entire party.

I was driving when I heard his speech and almost crashed the car... and then a client really did say to me he wanted Boris to stay! I must be in Wonderland.
Rishi, Nadim or Sajid most likely. But there are some coming up on the rails who may sneak past. Penny Mordaunt for one.

I saw a post on Twitter say that htis leadership election, from the point of view of the public, will be like looking at a menu of diseases and having your Dad choose on for you.
In that spirit, here's the Cabinet (main jobs) I'd like to see from the available options, before the next General Election hopefully silnces them all for eternity:
PM - Ben Wallace Chancellor - Greg Clark Foreign - Tom Tugendhat Home - Michael Gove Defence - Tobias Ellwood
After that, well who cares and what difference does it make. I despair.

Given that Tobias Ellwood is clearly a very upright person as are Tom Tugendhat and Ben Wallace I am not sure what you are saying. Tugendhat has put his head above the papapet regarding China (quite rightly), Ellwood is a former soldier who is genuinely a hero for trying to saves lives after a terrorist attack outside Parliament and Ben Wallace was apparently a very good Defence Secretary. Can't say that about anyone in the SNP, Liberals or many Labour MPs.
Just remember that backing the wrong horse at the next election could destroy the UK. Don't want Wee Krankie getting any sniff of power.

All of them are as responsible as any other Tory for the shambles of Brexit, the shambles of COVID, and the support of Johnson for so long, even through such events as unlawful prorgation of Parliament to name but one of what is probably now dozens of things which should have brought him down. Thats what I'm saying, regardless of their other deeds in the world, politically they are tainted by assocation with the administration. But they are the best of what's left, so, for now, I hope they take the reins, until we can replace them all.
Ben Wallace has a voting record to be ashamed of when it comes to such things as gay rights, equal marriage etc. But we are where we are, and we have what we have. For now.
The only "good" Tories are the ones who left the part years ago.
"Backing the wrong horse at the next election". Hmm. I take it you mean you belive the tall tales of "coalitions of chaos" and will vote for the Tories again? I don't share your fear of Nicola Sturgeon becoming Prime Minister, I can't see that happening. Independence and the SNP is a matter for people resident in Scotland. I'd be sad to see them leave, but should they choose that path so be it. The next election will provide the government it provides. If you don't like it, you'll have to get over it. I will vote, again, in whatever way give the best chance of my vote counting to the removal of the Conservative party. I was right last time, I'll be right next time.

Independence and the SNP is a matter for people resident in Scotland. I'd be sad to see them leave, but should they choose that path so be it. Only if they help through electoral reform first. If they leave us stuck with the Belarusian system, England and Wales will have unopposable Tory governments for ever.
