Extra time. Wozzapoinathat? Two exhausted teams trying not to lose, going nowhere and injuring themselves and each other in the process. Ukraine-Sweden tonight was excruciating, even if it did eventually, and surprisingly, produce a result. I have no data but are even half of tied matches resolved by extra time without penalties? And if not, why even bother?
I gather England won, though. I didn’t see it.

Well Al, how was it?! I didn’t get up at 4am here to watch live. I note that in a previous post you feared the Dutch side... oops. And you think that Sweden might be a threat... oops again! 🤣 Ah well there you go. My crystal ball needs a polish. I wasn't too far off the mark with the England game though. Great chance for them to go all the way and lose to Belgium or Italy in the final now.  My new team to "fear" though is Denmark. So that should ensure they lose to the Czechs, you can thank me later.  |

And if not, why even bother? I gather England won, though. I didn’t see it. Well we've had three games out of 8 go to extra time now, only one had to be resolved by penalties. It's a constant discussion amongst those of us interested in football, nobody has yet proposed a more acceptable solution. |

Well we were all confounded.
Denmark beat Czechia and England smashed Ukraine.
In a literal sense, given that the last three games are being played at Wembley.... "Football's coming home..!"

Depends who wins between Spain and Italy. Italy must be favourites - they have played lovely football the whole tournament.

Italy are a wily old fox. They know they can't run for a full 90 minutes as seen for the last 15 minutes v Belgium. They couldn't match them so wasted time and killed the game rather than play football. Witness the Italian rolling around on the floor in the penalty area when Italy scored. He had been looking for a penalty, the team scored anyway, up pops his head to check if no one is looking, springs to his feet and sprints over to celebrate the goal. VAR should be taking a look at that, red card and 20 international match ban will soon put a stop to that rubbish.
Some may argue the above are tactics, it's playing the game but not within the spirit of the game. I wouldn't like to pay what these tickets cost to see players standing around drinking water while a team mate gets a pedicure most of the time. It will ruin the game.

Well I don't know if it's coming home, but I'm going home, kinda, to watch the game in a friend's new garden bar in that Windsor.
Good luck England, hang on to your titfers, it won't be easy.
Italy spawned it last night, Spain were the better team and should have won it. They need a striker about as desperately as Scotland...and Fulham, come to that.

Indeed. They desperately needed a No.9 or have played like ManCity with a false 9 for most of the season - but then Spain don't have De Bruyne or Gundogan.

We played well. Sterling won us a dodgy penalty, but you make your own luck and overall we were the better team by a modest margin. Enjoyable and no poor performances although Pickford's kicking was wayward. He needs to be better against the Italians, who deserve to be in the final as much as we do.
It'll be a tense night on Sunday but if we play as we have done in the last three matches then even if we lose, we can hold our heads up.
