Nobody making any predictions for Sunday night?!
It’s winnable, but I can’t help thinking that a flash of magic will win it 1-0 for the Italians.
Or 1-1 and penalties. I hope not...

We will either play them off the park or go down 1-0 to a rapid counter attack after which the Italians will try every dirty trick to keep us from scoring.
I remember a match of ManCity v Southampton when it was 1-1 with about fives minutes to go. Southampton tried every time wasting trick in the book but the referee wasn't having it. He gave six minutes of extra time and Sterling scored in the 96th minute. We went wild with delight.
England need a referee who can do the same.

Italy go 1 up I'm not sure England will have the ability to breakdown the two walls of five defence Italy will then play.
England will need 2 goals to win, I don't think England could defend a one goal lead. McGuire will get mugged in the penalty box by an Italian forward if they need a goal to get back in the game.

England need a referee who can do the same. Hmmm pinning hours on the Dutch equivalent of Mr. Tesco or Mr. Sainsbury. I'm surprised the Italians have not complained about the choice of ref, he was in charge of the PSG - Man City champions league semi final and reportedly told several Italian PSG players to eff off during the game.

Ah, that one. I wonder if its loyalty card is red.
Making pizzas this evening. Purely coincidental; it wouldn’t have been paella if Spain had got through instead. (Although I’ve got some nice Serrano ham too.) 😃

At least we will have referee who will not stand for the nonsense of players writhing on the floor in agony, only to jump up and dance around for joy when a team mate scores.
And yes we are also having pizza for tea; washed down with good old Corona....

Where was VAR when Saka got taken out at head height and the over the ball tackle on Grealish. Both red card, dangerous play. Surprised Italy finished with 11 players on the pitch.

They were a bit crude at times, but — like England against Denmark— they came from behind to finish stronger, and probably deserved the win.
We celebrated loudly enough when England won a World Cup by a tiebreak, so can’t be too upset when one goes the other way.

I said up thread 1 goal would not be enough. Disappointed in the ref though. I'm sure the German's were in 1966.

No complaints. Did England even have a shot on target after they scored the early goal?

Best team won in my opinion. When the second half started and it looked ilke an Italy goal was inevitable I said it would end up as penalties here.
Extra time England did look better. A bit disappointed I guess. But the team did well in the Euros.

I'm not big into football, in fact I know almost nothing about it. But, I thought I'd better watch that match just in case it turned out to be something to remember.
A couple of things struck me, quite apart from my usual impression of nothing much happening for extended periods of time punctuated by brief moments of activity.
The things I couldn't quite relate to were the dreadful booing and jeering from the crowd whenever the opposing side had possession of the ball, the constant arguing with the referees decisions, and most disappointing of all really, the rudeness of the players who immediately removed their silver medals after being presented with them.
Struck me as a display of a very nasty, childish and petulant culture that I'm glad I'm not closely involved with.
It would have been nice for us if England had won I suppose, might have given the mood of the country a lift, but if that's what the "beautiful game" is all about, I'll not be in any rush to take much further interest in it.

Thing is, the game, a club, and the country I support all got under my skin when I was 8 years old, too young to realise all the negative baggage which comes with it. It's hard to shake now, but I do share your feelings that the idiocy and frankly criminality which surrounds the game is shameful and I wish it didn't exist. It has impinged on my enjoyment of the game personally very little in my life though. I have had some great times, plenty more character building miserable times, and made some great friends along the way.
