Perhaps the Egyptians could reinvest some of their canal income on widening it?

Maybe change hard shoulders into running lanes - for safety you know...

Pub gardens open and haircuts all round today then?!
Let’s see if there’s another spike in cases in 3 weeks time...😬

There is bound to be a spike because a lot out drinking in the pub gardens will be under 40 and therefore most will not have their a single dose of the vaccine yet.

This is why I'm not going anywhere crowded until I'm double dosed, and everyone else is at least single dosed. Well, everyone intelligent enough to have accepted the offer of a vaccine. I suppose we are all going to be left with a residual risk of infection due to people's ignorance and selfishness.

Not quite. Some people will be unable to have the vaccine for legitimate reasons. The vaccine is not 100% effective even if 95% of the population is vaccinated, someone somewhere will get Covid; although hopefully a mild dose. You now (or sometime in near future) will have to view it as flu. Normally it kills about 10,000 per year. Two or three years ago it killed 25,000+ but there was no uproar about it.
However in principle, I am not changing my routine at the moment unless I need to. I need shoes re-heeling and a phone screen repalcing so I will go to Timpsons in the nearest shopping centre, once the rush has died down later this week. I have to visit a barber who is a tenant of a client to collect papers and discuss rent payments; so might as well get a trim whilst I'm there.
Last week I met with a middle aged white man who was totally dismissive of Covid, vaccinations, social distancing etc etc. An hour later I met a Muslim man originally from Bangladesh. He and his family are fully vaccinated and he feels so much safer and less stressed as a result. There are some idiots out there, but you can't tell who they are by what they look like.

Colleague has had a delivery of lateral flow tests.
She has having a wry grin about them being made in China.

Yes, Boy2 has a stack of those; he’s required by school to use two a week. I suppose there are factories that make matches, smoke detectors and fire extinguishers under one roof...
I’m just back from my haircut, booked online the day the reopening was announced — and even then the first day was already full. It was predictably hectic down there (at the hairdressers, not...) but worth the visit — and worth resisting two things that threatened to keep me away. Goodness knows when I’d have got another opportunity!

Israel about to let vaccinated tourists in, subject to 'seriological tests'. That means they take blood I don't really need to be there until the middle of July (anniversary of Dad's death) so I think I might wait a little longer to see if there is any reciprocity with UK over vaccination proof. Don't like needles unless absolutely necessary. Wearing a mask makes it a lot easier...

I am certain you will only be offered vaccines approved for use in your country of residence once they have been proven safe and effective by the relevant authority. I can't see how their country of origin is pertinent.

Legitimate reasons, yes. That number is microscopic however. Everyone else should get one. If 95% of us are vaccinated it reduces the virus's ability to spread to the point where it is to all intents an purposes eliminated.

...and so informed much of the safety testing that modern medicines have to undergo. That’s how science and regulation work; the mesh in the net gets smaller all the time.

One of the Chinese vaccines might not be so effective even after two jab. Look at what's happening in Chile. They are considering giving a third dose.
I think most of the vaccines for Covid are using a similar approach apart from the mRNA based ones. But two are already likely to be causing rare blood clots (Jansen and AZ)..... Or is that a reaction to the vaccine which means those people are susceptible to these blood clots if they got the virus?
Over here you're now going to get one of three different vaccines. Youngest stepson was out and about today and got offered the AZ vaccine.... he's only 31. It wasn't left overs because it was this morning.
