V rated will cover Humph's carriage. You can get winter and all season in V rating, you can even get W rated winter tyres now. Not sure who does 186mph on winter tyres but there you go.

Never had any bother getting a matching set of summers or indeed winters. Where the problem lies is in getting a matching set of all seasons.
But, it doesn’t matter now. I’ve got used to swopping them summer and winter.
I’m more trying to figure out how to get the best/least cost usage from the the two part worn sets I have.

Take the winter tyres as they are right now as a starting point;
Would you put them back on next winter or would you think; "no point, not worth the bother, might as well buy a new set"
If you would put them back on, then take them off now. If you would not put them back on, then drive them now until they're done.

That’s probably the right answer. And, they will continue to be useful up Welsh hill tracks for a while yet. Not sure if everyone would be aware, but it rains occasionally in Wales, even in Spring, and can get a bit muddy sometimes.

I like doing nothing. It’s probably one of my favourite pastimes.

Here’s a theory for you. What does the person who would have bought a SAAB choose now? I reckon it’s a Skoda. Bit left field, not the obvious choice but very much appreciated by those who have them it seems. It might take a few years to reach that status but its getting there. We need to factor in Tesla as well. Also the architects I know (didn't they always drive Saabs?) now drive Minis. One architect I know drives a Merc E W212 and an SLC and a Westfield/Caterham (one or the other, cant remember exactly at the moment). He lives in my road and I are envy. The other lives in California and has a Honda Element. Neither of them have ever had a SAAB.

The architects and dentists who drove SAAB will either be retired or pushing up daisies now. They would not have touched a GM SAAB. That puts'93 as the cutoff date, that's 30 years ago.

My friend who is an architect, did indeed have a SAAB back along. Now though, he has a camper van and a little Peugeot 108 as a local runaround. Nice wee thing with a fabric roll back roof.

Those 108s with the fabric roof are lovely. Just a bit too small for Espadrille and the dog otherwise one would be on our drive.

Subaru is the new Saab in these parts. And on that note the Forester has worn out its back tyres after 27 months and 40,000 miles.
Lease company won’t pay for replacement OEM Bridgestone Duelers, but my tyre guys tells me that the incoming Maxxis tyres are OK. I’m not paying, so I guess I can’t complain!
Off to the wintry south in late-July, so a good time to have fresh rubber.

Gotta love the macho off-roader names. Almost up there with caravans. Not entirely impressed by the Continental all-seasons on the Aygo. I drove it on a familiar road towards Wokingham the other weekend, on which there’s a corner the other cars take happily at 50+. Even at more like 45, there were hints of slithering and scrabbling from the tyres — although, of course, nothing truly untoward happened. Surprising, as I’ve generally been pleasantly surprised by its ability on country roads. Perhaps unfair to blame the tyres but the sensation is one of ‘hardness’, as if the rubber is sitting on top of the tarmac surface rather than really engaging with it. Curious, as it’s decades since I last felt I was at risk of exceeding what my tyres could do.
