These over-hyped "match of the decade" affairs usually are a bit blearrgh. See also most FA Cup finals. Bournemouth v Watford was a brilliant match this week, given a thorough ignoring by the media because it didn't involve a "top club". Gah.

Well the atmosphere in the Etihad was amazing. I screamed myself hoarse.
Not the greatest game of football, rather ragged from both sides, but it was end to end and lots to talk about.
The important thing is that it wasn't a cup final, and it opens up the Permiership to another two or three teams to snatch it. Liverpool's to lose now, but equally, Spurs or City have a decent chance.
I would loved to have seen the Bournemouth - Watford match.

I hope it will be less one-sided that the 7-0 battering Spurs gave tramnere last night. Although the kids we are going with, will be hoping for that.
The oohs and the aahs of Thursday night's game against the Scousers was one of the best evenings I have spent watching football.

OK
I'll take the 7-0 battering of Rotherham.
Far less exciting than the Liverpool match but far more one-sided in the end. Pep but out a decent team, realising I suspect that he needs to guarantee some silverware this season.
Let's see what happens on Wednesday when we play Burton in the League Cup semi-final.

>> Pep but out a decent team DIdn't check the Leicester line-up but assume they tried a weakened team. FA cup... never assume you're so much better than lower league teams. Maybe we should place a bet on Burton to win the FA Cup

We have drawn against Leicester in the League Cup this term (won on penalties) and lost to them in the Premiership, so they should have won. But the FA cup gives surprises. 🤣🤣

Well at least Leicester's embarrassment was just that bit big enough to just about overshadow Fulham's.

Forget Al, I am over the moon!
Klopp was either silly or cynical. Silly for playing a weakened team against strong Premier League opposition who would be going for it; or cynical for playing a weak team to avoid another competition so they can concentrate on the league.
Either way, Liverpool are now only in two competitions to City's four. Can't see them winning both the Premiership and Champions League.

Well, given that Burton had a shot on goal after 12 seconds, a 9-0 victory by City was a little unexpected but the 7-0 against Rotherham gave an inkling of what might happen.
It got very exciting at the end as City were trying for the tenth and Burton showed some mettle in denying us.
See you at Wembley on 24th February....

How can you be sure City will not concede 10 goals in the second leg? You're saying see you at Wembley and that's assuming Burton don't turn this around. I said before the game it would be 10-0 to City but sadly that didn't happen. I'm no City supporter but that would have been a realistic score for a match against Burton. The fans stuck on the M6 hopefully never made it to the ground for their own sakes.

It was a huge shame for the Burton fans about the M6 closure. They missed a famous night.
10-0 was realistic but we had a couple of patches in each half where we were flat (giving the ball away too easily, etc), so missed out on the extra goal. If I was an away supporter at last night's game, I would have gone with hope of victory but only an expectation of defeat. Once third went in, it became a masterclass which everyone could enjoy.
Funnily enough, it had more excitement than the 7-0 win over Rotherham. Maybe those last few minutes when we were playing for the tenth goal like we were losing a final, and Burton were defending like they were leading a final made the night for everyone. Even the Burton supporters were screaming for the tenth....

Just finished MOTD. Not an inspiring week, though Fulham scored three goals.
I do hope Fulham survive, but it's not looking great at the moment. Difficult to see quite what is wrong, because watching them they seem consistently 'almost' good. Like it'll take one small thing.....
