I know not of great interest to most of you, but ManCity have a real battle on Sunday 6th January in the FA Cup. Rotherham United. Currently low down in the Championship, they offer a great banana skin to teams high up in the Premiership. Nothing to lose, they will have a real go; and why not.
Being a real long term 'Bitter Blue' this is very much the type of game we would say "typical City - lost to the minnows.".
Anyway tickets are great value and six of us (one under 18, one under 21, one 65+ and three 'adults') are going for £65 in total.. City usually put on a bit of a show at these games, so hopefully we will enjoy the spectacle and the result....

I look forward to Rotherham's win. Long odds but it would be good for football :-)
When Man City was relegated to tier 3 football, I was out with some friends some of whom were City supporters. Some others (the friends' friends) were also City supporters. Somehow I got into a conversation and I was not into football but basically said: "City will come back stronger and get back to the top tier".... I got threatened because they thought I was taking the piss.
My first ever driving lesson started in the car park of Man City, Maine Road.... drove around a bit and instructor wanted me to try handbrake turns :-)

It would be good. However no one really complained when United or Liverpool were dominant so don't quite know why people think differently about City.
We will have our time and then sink back to merely being competitive. If Liverpool are champions this year it will have been because of a great manager, players on a roll, and a good club structure. No different to City, just getting an extra break over us.
We won at least two games in extra time last season. We will need the same this time and it may not happen.
If Rotherham win, they will have played out of their skins.

If Rotherham win, they will have played out of their skins. ...lowest budget in the Championship, the wage bill of the whole club will be lower than that for City's lowest paid player on the pitch, and the whole team will have cost (much) less than City's lowest transfer fee for a player on the pitch. ....says quite a bit about why I've lost most of my interest in professional football.

£10 a ticket for Fulham's cup match against Oldham. Much bigger chance of an upset there than City v Rotherham. Good luck to them. We'll be playing Rotherham in the league again next season if they stay up. No way Fulham survive now.
There was always resentment at Liverpool and Man U's success when they had it. But the resentment directed at Man City nowadays is similar to that directed at Chels*a - success purchased with dirty money, and the two clubs tend to hoard young talented players who never see the light of day. It's a bit different.

and the two clubs tend to hoard young talented players who never see the light of day. Not really. Diaz is good but is going to be allowed to leave as was Jadon Sancho. Foden is being treated differently and will slowly come into the first team on a regular basis. Tosin Adarabioyo is on loan to West Brom. I sometimes watch Salford City FC as they are 15 minute walk from home. That is real grass roots football and better for it; but eventually better quality entertainment comes at a price.

Patrick Roberts? Our (Fulham's) brightest prospect for many years. Went to Man City. Disappeared. Man City have got dozens of top youngsters. Buried. Same at the Dog Track at the scruffy end of Fulham.

Patrick John Joseph Roberts (born 5 February 1997) is an English professional footballer who plays as a winger for Spanish La Liga side Girona on loan from Manchester City. He has previously played for Fulham and Celtic.
Roberts joined Manchester City's Spanish partner club Girona for the 2018–19 season, with Manchester City saying that the ideal next stage in Robert's development would be testing himself in La Liga, one of the world’s most technical leagues. At the time of signing he was the only English player playing in the Spanish top flight and he made his debut the following day as a substitute against Real Valladolid.
Disappeared? No, improving his technique. He is only 21.

It'll be interesting to see how he develops in comparison to Ryan Sessengnon, who is only 18 and yet a regular starter in the Premier League, and on the fringe of the England squad. They are very similar, comparable players in terms of role, skill and size. Ryan elected to stay at Fulham despite offers from more "glamorous" clubs, where he would have been stuck in the reserves or loaned out to a non-entity club (in terms of English football and development towards being an England international) like Celtic or Girona.
In the long run, I wonder which of the two approaches will be vindicated?

Fulham themselves aren't averse to a bit of "owning and loaning" decent players.
The current Rotherham goalkeeper, Marek Rodak, is a Fulham loanee, who has fought his way to Slovakian national selection during his time there.
Both the club and their fans are desperate for him not to be recalled, being a regular "Man of the Match" choice.

Yes it's a fair point, almost all clubs have some players out on loan. It's the scale which differs with Man City and Chelsea in particular though. Rodak is unlikely to be recalled as we have 3 good senior goalkeepers, who are all fit and healthy at the moment.
Are you a Miller, tne?

I was a season-ticket holder for a good few years of my youth until I moved away at 17. Watched them on and off for a good few years after that, including a trip to Maine Road for the FA Cup in (I think) 1979. Haven't been to a professional football match for many a long year, but still continue to follow their fortunes.

Mourinho has gone. No surprise other than how long it took to do it and the remarkable attitude he had when United lost (frequently).
Now I will be worried! Who do they replace him with? I reckon to get the best out of Pogba you get Didier Deschampes in. He certainly got the best out of Pogba in the World Cup.
