I couldn't care less who manages them. The club and its fans have behaved in the most appalling way over the years, and have an "offended by everything, ashamed of nothing" attitude around player and fan misdemeanours. Suarez, etc. I can't bear the thought of the plastic Berkshire army of armchair fans droning on and on if they win the league - as of course they're "entitled" to do and it's so unfairly been withheld from them for too long, and surely it's their turn and aren't they some kind of national treasure for winning in Europe a few times. Gah.
I'd rather Chelsea wins the league than that lot.

I know almost nothing about football, other than that I'm not in any great rush to learn more about it. But, I did smile when the Liverpool manager was being interviewed and it was described as a Klopp Klip.
Well, like I say, it appealed to me.
Carry on...

If one judges a club by it's fans, I shouldn't think there's a single team in the top divisions that would be acceptable.
I do enjoy football much more than I think I would if I supported a single team. I quite often want one team or another to win a particular match or competition, but I rarely if ever want another team to lose or fail.

True enough, and I accept this, but there are differences of scale. I do take some pride in my club generally being accepted as having particularly benign, magnanimous fans, but of course there are a few idiots in our ranks too - overall however it is one of the reasons I follow that club. It's all a bit of pantomime though, and lovable Liverpool are one of my biggest baddies to boo. Occasionally another team will temporarily replace them at the pinnacle of my sh1t list, but LFC invariably float back to the top.
I do actually often enjoy watching games as a neutral more than I do watching my own team, because the latter so often disappoint and frustrate. But when they do something out of the ordinary, it makes it all worthwhile. What I fail to understand is how "big club" followers get anything out of it, when trophies and success drop in to their laps almost every season, and there is still a tendency amongst them to moan and be dissatisfied with this or that.
I do enjoy you writing all this against an avatar of one of the most famous fictional fans of my club, wearing the colours on his scarf! Terry McCann being the other notable comedy creation to support Fulham, even though Dennis Waterman is a Chelsea fan. We've always ben the butt of a lot of laughter over the years, but it's all part of the charm of our club that we can take it and poke fun at ourselves.

I think that depends. If I understand Espada correctly, he's been following Man City since they were shite. I reckon that entitles him to enjoy the glory while they have it.
What I do not understand is starting to support a club because it is big and for no other reason.
All in all though, I enjoy football but I don't really get emotionally involved in it. Perhaps because I was so shit at it myself.

Yes, I suppose Man City (and Chelsea) have only recently achieved consistent success. I remember watching Fulham beat City 3-0 in the Third Division at the Cottage. Your second sentence indeed summarises my feeling about the legions of Berkshire Liverpool fans quite succinctly.
Happy to confirm I was also shit at it, and indeed every other sport I tried, with the slight exception of hockey. Was quite a reasonable striker at one time, and eventually a reasonable goalie.

Good luck for later.
There's quite the gathering at a local bar here to watch it and it'll be far better tempered rivalry than a bar in England would be.
Should be a great atmosphere at the game.
I think I fancy Man City's chances though would just marginally prefer a Liverpool win.
Hope it's a good match.

I shall laugh most heartily if City win tonight. The media Liverpool love-in is well underway and making me nauseous already.

I don't really understand why you would laugh at the loser. Being pleased for a winner seems to be quite a different thing and somehow more acceptable.
It is only one game in a sporting contest.

Schadenfreude. Not clever, but great fun. And it is only a game as you rightly say, so it's really no big deal to be moderately amused by a cocky club getting a swipe in the kisser. God knows I put up with enough mickey taking at the expense of my favoured club. All part of the fun and what goes around usually comes around.
