I would far more watch the Lionesses play, than about 90% of the men's teams in the world. A squad of quality players who have a great skill set and a manager who understands tactics. They are never going to beat most mens teams due to the physical aspects of strength and size, but in terms of enjoyment, last night's game was so far removed from the turgid England/Scotland game in the Euros last year's competition that I did wonder if the rules were different.
Even son #2, who last year was not interested in going to the Etihad campus to watch WSL, mentioned he might want to go this season. I may decide to join him.

Even I watched the last 25 minutes, including Russo’s outrageous back-heeled goal. Yes, the Swedish goalkeeper had a poor night, but the sheer joie d’esprit of the England players was infectious, reminiscent of some of what we’ve seen from some of England’s various cricket teams this summer. It’s how we wish all sport could be — fun!

It’d be hilarious if the Women’s team win the trophy, showing up the mens’ team who consistently fall short in winning anything since 1960-something 😂

But then again we might just lose in a final again. I hope they win.

Great game yesterday. I also thought that football was a game played over 90 minutes and in the end the Germans win but finally it has been disproved. The Lionesses are always stronger than the Lions.

#Football's coming home!# There's an internet meme doing the rounds where, after 56 years of promises, the women have said "sod it, we'll do the job ourselves"

52 years, maybe. Or did the supposed national agony begin the day after Bobby Moore lifted the trophy?

The symbols on the football shirts are actually leopards in heraldic terms.
Just putting it out there.
😉
Jolly well done to the team though eh?

It's a fantastic achievement considering where they've come from. Hope they can carry the good work into the world cup.
On the downside, the British meeja is now set for the next 50+ years and Alex Scott will be hosting everything on TV from now until...

If Alex Scott remains as good looking as she does now I won't complain.
