www.swiftbasecamp.co.uk/Humph, note the internal tie down points for bikes AND the external shower hose attachment to clean them.

That is quite disturbing. In so far as I am ever so slightly intrigued by it. It’ll wear off soon though with luck. 😕

Note that all the graphics packs make the wretched hut more conspicuous. Crossover camping vehicle, my arse! It's a caravan; call it a caravan.
Crossover camping vehicle. Harrumph! Won't be putting one of those behind my, erm, shooting brake.

One of my mountain biking pals has one of those “Airstream” silver bullet type caravan things he tows behind his Range Rover to events. Has it set up as a sort of mobile bike workshop.
Posing git mind. All the gear no idea.

Somewhere to store your bikes and the gear, a place to freshen up and change, somewhere warm to make a brew and a bacon sarnie, all in some forestry commission car park. Makes a lot of sense, yes? And they do one with yellow graphics your fav colour. PS its even light enough to be towed by 4 cylinders....

Just wrong though isn’t it? On so many levels. Probably. 🤔

What's supposedly the advantage of this caravan over others? The fact that you can tie your bikes down in it? Not the biggest USP I've ever come across.

What's supposedly the advantage of this caravan over others? The fact that you can tie your bikes down in it? Not the biggest USP I've ever come across. Size and weight. It make no pretence of long term comfort, being unashamedly a day/overnight/weekend muddy activity at most proposition. Plus they have added the SUV / Lifestyle tag to it to justify the £18k (fully featured) pricetag. Saw it at a dog show in Snetterton over the weekend, a scenario it fulfils admirably. It would fit on my drive a treat. It would, however have not much other practical "caravany" things going for it, and could never persuade nooka to embrace it for example. 18k buys you a lot of travellodges.

Or a lot of those awning things you got for the Mitsubishi. The awning thing is still doing a sterling job on the longboat now. And funnily enough doggy and I utilised a nearby Travelodge for the night at the show where I saw the Sports Utility Caravan. SUC?

I've just been thinking about the potential conversation re this...
"Darling, erm...? "Yes, what is it?" "Well, you know I mentioned that I might quite like a new bike, y'know, if I could get a good deal?" "Oh Christ, not another one! What have you bought now?" "No, well, that's the the thing y'see, I've not bought a new bike" "Thank God for that, you need to sell some of the other ones before you do!" "Yeah, I know, I will get around to that, just the market is a bit soft this time of year, maybe in the Spring" "You said that last year, and the year before, and the year before that..." "Yeah, I know, you're right, by the way, you look really good in that outfit you've had on today..." "Do I? Thanks, I like it too" "Yeah, really nice...anyway, I haven't bought a new bike, but I have ordered something else, something that we are going to get so much use out of, it's called a Base Camp." "What's one of those then, and how much was it?" "Yeah, it's hard to explain, admittedly not cheap as such, but so cool..." "How much is 'not cheap'?" "Yeah, well, you don't get good kit cheap do you, we've made that mistake before...you do look nice, how about dinner out tonight?...I'll erm, tell you all about it then shall I...?"
