Just driven 250 miles in a rental RAV4 petrol auto, a fancy one with leather, sunroof etc. Still got that cheap-looking slabby dashboard that they all have though. Biggest surprise was exceeding 43mpg on a steady run at 60-ish mph, quite a bit better than I was expecting.
The new Corolla has hit the streets here; looks like the rental fleets bagged a few thousand units of the outgoing model last month. Wonder when the new model will become as ubiquitous..!

The Fiat has gone! Don't know whether it was the Moslems, Jews or Christians, but someone in Jerusalem yesterday removed the rear numberplate! In truth, the ride is so poor, I suspect it dropped off driving over a hump.
Anyway got a Focus estate Ecoboost. Feels like a Ferrari in comparison.
Its a strange pale blue that looks great initially but then gets boring.

I remember being at Craven Cottage when we stuffed you 3-0 in a Third Division match many years ago, an ageing Peter Beardsley was the main difference that day. What a player. Happy days. Wasn't quite so chuffed with the 3-0 reverse last week, but hey, I was expecting worse. Problem with Premier League football is that it's 99% predictable when the so-called "Big 6" are involved against so-called "lesser" clubs.
As for Tipos, I didn't find the ride in our rental Tipo last year at all problematic. It was a fine vehicle overall. I wonder if those saloons built for the non-European market are specified differently when it comes to mechanicals and suspension? It is a shame though that the TC auto option is only available with the worst engine, the 1.6 petrol. Stick it in a 1.4 petrol or the 1.6 diesel and you've got a really great little car for the money.

I think that that was something wrong with the car. The Tipo we had earlier this year was nowhere near as bad and this one had a bad rattle over bumps as well.
It was a very poor (perhaps good?) example of an abused vehicle.
The Focus estate we have now is a much better resolved car. The only issue is the infotainment system which is in German and the only options I can find for an alternative language are Japanese or Japanese...
I have managed to connect Bluetooth but given that most Israelis speak English rather than German it is rather surprising.

Not a Corolla shock! Got 2 days in a Focus 1.5 turbo petrol auto. Does feel like a better drive than the Corolla. And, interestingly, Ford have just announced a 5-year unlimited mileage warranty on all new cars sold since 1st July. Wonder if Ford UK will do likewise?

Got "Ford Fiesta or similar" booked for a trip to Spain shortly (Centauro the firm is, I think, the missus booked it). If it's not a white SEAT Ibiza I'll paint myself pink and dance on top of a harpsichord singing songs form the Sound of Music.
