The point is the UK started all this whilst still *in the EU* to all intents and purposes, we were still in the transition, which was a standstill arrangement and EU regulations applied. They did not impinge on our swift approval and roll out commencement, nor should they have in any other EU country. Whatever it is you are accusing the EU of, all the member countries were at the same liberty as us to do as we pleased.

Well no, you couldn't make it up. Things like this were predicted before the referendum but dismissed as "made up" and "Project Fear".
Hey ho.

What would happen if you bought apples grown in France, packaged in France in a sealed bag, purchased in the UK. Would they let them in? Probably not I suppose.
We do have better animal welfare than most of Europe so I wonder why this was not included in the Agreement? Were the Europeans only worried we would suddenly removed all workers rights to reduce costs? We may have had a far better deal if May hadn't shilly shallied and we said in 2016 'right we're off - if you want our money for your Mercedes, BMWs, Golfs and Bosch ovens etc you know what to do'.
Too late now of course. Hence the reason I voted Remain despite misgivings about the European Project.

Thought-provoking article from the Review section of today’s FT, taking aim at some of the lazy thinking that’s led us into the present mess, and at the fatuous ‘Anglosphere’ idea of the neo-imperialists. Googling these words will find it.

Brexiteers seem to be experiencing an “I told you so” moment these past few days, thanks to the behaviour of the Commission?!

They do have a strange kind of tunnel vision. A year ago it would have been a non-issue because there was no divide to cross.

Makes so much sense to leave a trade agreement with France and join one with Brunei. Brilliant. We are led by genius.

...and democratically consulted by no-one. When did this become The Will of the People?

At least you won’t starve. NZ lamb, butter, and wine will soon be on its way in huge quantities. Better than the French stuff 🤣

I hope you are right Al. But I don’t think the UK has the capacity to feed its 60m+ population without importing food from elsewhere.
Are there even that many dairy herds left in the country? Didn’t France largely take over?
