So a few more doubles than I previously said, but only one triple. No Vauxhalls. No Audis.

Head over ruled my heart when i bought my Golf. I'd looked at an Alfa 33 wagon Ti Cloverleaf or whatever it was called. It was red, looked amazing. Half a field of mud behind the rear wheel arches sent me in VWs direction.
Also test drove an Alfa GTV, the 90s one, loved it but it was only the 2.0TS. i wanted the 3.0 V6 but didn't have 3.0 V6 money so bought a FIAT Coupé 20v turbo instead.
Been within touching distance of Alfa a few times but something else always caught my eye. I'd sell a kidney for a Guilia Quadrifolio estate, thankfully they don't make them.

The Giulia Sportwagon was canned in 2017 or are you referring to the Stelvio ? SUVs don't do anything for me.

This could end up as a group on WhatsApp because it won't last here.
Back to 'leccy I see just now over 50% of UK production is wind, I did see some going well this morning.

I've noticed in the last few days Germany seems to have found some electric stuffed down the back of the sofa somewhere. Average CO2eqg/kWh has dropped from over 400 average/day down below 150.

What's the charging infrastructure like in NZ ? Running a 64kWh eSoul for the last 4 years has been great as an urban commuter car, wouldn't fancy it as my only car though. Depends on the geography and use.

I wouldn’t risk an EV for long journeys in NZ. The Tesla Evangelists will say it’s fine, but there are reasonably long rural distances without a charger at all, plus invariably hilly roads where your consumption is probably going to be higher than you expected.
Very few big shiny service areas where you can fritter away 20 mins comfortably either!

But EVs and hybrids with regenerative breaking [sic] are able to absorb and keep some kinetic energy created by braking. That's because electric motors can run either forwards or backwards (or, clockwise and anti-clockwise.) So when you brake or take your foot off the accelerator in your EV, the motor spins in the opposite direction to your wheels. This generates energy which gets converted and stored in the vehicle’s battery.
I’ll now be using mine with care and checking for plaited driveshafts.

Looking around here in Dubai I've spoted one or two model Y. Chargers are mostly rated at 22kW Type 2 with a few 50kW CCS around. Suspect that is more to do with battery heat management than infrastructure. That's going to make the switch to EV more difficult in the region even if they weren't already swimming in carbon fuels.
Quite a few Lamborghini and McLaren cars around, not seen one Ferrari. Most people drive Toyota or Lexus. BMW, Mercedes and Audi around in very low numbers. BMW driver's don't fall far from the tree regardless of geography. The aggressive driving witnessed here has been accompanied with a blue and white propeller.
