His cheapest option may be to buy the car he's got, if the lease conditions allow it. Let's not be silly. Two well-known facts here: - Nobody is buying used EVs because they are too expensive.
- Nobody is buying used EVs because they depreciate so much.

I can speed with impunity and pull plonker drivers over to remonstrate with them. Fun!

It's OK - I like being silly. As I approach my 60th birthday in just over a week's time I need all the fun I can get. But seriously, the idea of buying 'my' car is under consideration. I will discuss with Hyundai Finance in the new year and also look at the prices to continue the lease for another year or simply get a new 2025 model with increased range and rear windscreen wiper...

I think you got your car, EspIII just before the prices went Covid daft. With incentives down and RRPs up it'll be interesting to see what happens to your monthlies on a 2025 car.
The reason I kept my Focus was it was a three year old car, I'd had from new, with less than 17,000 miles for 40% of new price still with two years manufacturers warranty on it. Similar story with the EV. No monthlies for three cars and two still covered by manufacturer backed warranties. No brainer, as they say.

I had a brief look at various leasing websites and the prices didn't look overly stupid. But I shall see what happens closer to the time.

Interest rates are drifting downward too, which will affect leasing prices.

See if that continues after October and the budget. Rates here in Europe are 2-6% higher than 2020 depending on make and model.

The BoE sets interest rates to achieve its narrow focus on inflation, which is low again at the moment. The Budget isn't likely to affect that, so I still expect rates to fall further.

So anyway, things have improved a bit financially here of late. And with the PCP balloon payment looming next month it was decision time. Yes, I know I decided to use the equity from the Civic to pay off the existing Leaf and keep it. But, well, you know. Who could refuse a 23-reg, 40kwh Leaf with 5k miles on the clock from the local main dealer at £100 a month. Not me.

Can't object to £100pcm. How long for and what is the balloon? Any mileage limit?

Or…should we have a holiday from anything to do with the tedious things? 😉

Just of curiosity I did a search on Autotrader a few days ago and was surprised how cheap some Leaf's were that were only a few years old.
