Every 2 months I go to visit my mum - so that's where one of my tankfuls would go if I had a PHEV. Round trip is 410 miles if I don't do any other driving whilst there.
The PHEV would save me money if I never plug it in but that is a waste of PHEV in my opinion.

Doesn't seem to cause a problem for my lawn mower. It's still using last summer's petrol, which has been sitting in a plastic can in my cheapo shed (not the Merc or Mazda before anyone starts, the wooden one in the garden).

Good News! The car decides the fuel is getting stale, fires the REX and burns it off, so you never need worry about that.
Bad News! The car decides the fuel is getting stale, fires the REX and burns it off, so you need to replace it.

Presumably, the car is clever enough to only do this while it's being driven and not at 2:30am while parked in your garage running in a confined space with a cold cat. Give it time before that REX running stale fuel is killing the planet due to some as yet unannounced pollutant.

I've got a test drive booked in a Nissan Leaf in a couple of weeks. Popped in the local dealer this morning for a squizz and a chat. They were quite helpful and non-pushy. So far so good.
Getting tempted to lease/PCP a new one at £180-200 a month as a commuting/school run car. I usually only do 50 miles a day, so even the 24kwh version should be OK. Mazda would go, E Class would be second/longer distance/weekend car. I currently spend £200-300 a month on diesel/petrol, I could knock this down to £30 electric, and take away the £25 a month VED on the Mazda. I'd be a few quid up, with a brand warrantied car and no maintenance/repair bills. And a smug eco grin on my chops.
I don't think any other electric car with a decent size boot (cricket bags, hockey bags, multiple school backpacks/games kit bags need to be carried all at once) is available anywhere near this sort of monthly cost.
Car As A Service. Electric Cars. Time to embrace the future, perhaps.

Just found a 2 year lease on a Leaf Acenta 24kwh (presumably), £160 a month, 6+23, 12k miles p.a.
That seems a good deal.

I've been wondering about a Leaf as our no.2 car for similar reasons, Vić. There'd be very little occasion for range anxiety given how it would be used, and we'd still have a big, comfy German bus for long and/or four-up trips.
Keep us au courant.

Sitting in one at the dealers this morning, it seemed a nice quality, well made car. All mods cons. Roomy in the back. Boot space not ideal, but enough. Only downside, which Mrs A will squeal about, is that you can have any interior colour you like, so long as it's black. Harumph. Why? Why not offer other trim options? Seems weird when other models can have light interiors.
Perhaps Mrs WDB would prefer a B Class electric? I spy leases at £250/month for 12k miles. You could probably get one for less on lower mileage. Obvs you may be a cash buyer, in which case this would be irrelevant.

I think there'll be other satisfactions, especially in urban and suburban traffic - which accounts for most daylight driving in the Southeast anyway.
This is the same generational argument as the one about six cylinders and the rest. Some will cling to memories of a lost world, some are ready to enjoy the new one.

A Leaf does seem to make sense for your particular needs, Alanovic. Leasing might be better than a PCP, as Leafs (Leaves?) lose their value horrendously (according to the What Car tables they're worth only 18-20% of cost after 3 years). That may be because the list price is so high. But that might be reflected in the monthly cost of a PCP.
