I was in our local Volvo dealer on Friday and popped into the showroom while waiting. I'm not a fan of the new S90, the V90 they had looked too low (could have been an R-design I didn't go over for a close enough look) the V90 cross country they have in with pearlescent white paint looked very, very nice.
That coming from someone who doesn't like estates or hatchbacks.

Might need a bit of T-Cut on it here and there, but otherwise not bad...is that where you keep the sloth?

Seems to have been in transit for quite some time. It wasn't on that recent train all the way from China, was it?

That bloke who was sort of shopping for a new car...has he decided what his attitude to the diesel debacle might be? He says, its got him thinking for sure. The Volvo V90 he covets only comes in diesel, and a promised some time later Plug in Petrol Hybrid (however that arrives with horsepower figures in the "Clucking Bell Howmany? sheeeeeettttt" level). He's wondering if its a good idea to lash out 40k on his last for a lifetime car of his dreams that might get banned from the land. He's thinking, maybe a two or three year lease might be a sound idea. He had a rude shock at a Volvo dealer when the new V90XC arrived on the forecourt. He rushed round there with his state of the art dog cage, Mr Dealer principal happily opened up the rear of this 5 metre long behemoth, only to be horrified to find it wont fit due the sexy, but very acutely angled rear hatch. The cage will adjust down to fit, but alas the dog can not be so adjusted to fit the now very much shorter cage. Options discussed, including the bespoke Volvo dog guard option (central divider, seat back divider, waterproof rubber base, hatch door), Large noises of jaws dropping apparently when the price of such cropped up - £750 quid! A bspoke tailored cage from Lintran could be commissioned for about 500 quid. Anyway, he is on his way to a short shortlist, Volvo V90XC or BMW 5 Series touring. The later new or possibly a low mileage 12 month old model. I mean, seriously, have you seen the deals available for them? FULLY loaded with all the options you could possibly want, megahuge 6 cylinder engines, miniscule miles on the clock at Massive discounts over new. It all now hinges on a new 5 series touring test drive when they arrive in the UK.

Very good. But it might be best to advise him to stick with the Volvo idea. Four wheel drive etc and not too powerful. If it's the same guy who got all bent out of shape in a car park with a sprinkling of snow on it? A rwd 5 series with a big engine might be a bit much for him don't you think? I know it's difficult if he's a friend and all, but you'd not want to see him harm himself or endanger others by taking on something a bit too challenging for an older gentleman now would you? 😉

No idea what he was on about.

He's probably just getting a bit confused, you know how it is when they are getting on a bit. If it's the same fella who's a bit unsteady on his feet, it'd be a kindness to guide him towards something a bit more manageable wouldn't it? 😛

That's more like it, and when it runs out of charge he could get a harness and some reins so the dog could pull him along?

...it certainly neatly sidesteps the diesel question (and at the same time should make him popular with the EV lobby on here).

Knowing the bloke as I do, he is likely to be commenting that "someone is angling for a slap" I think this is more what he had in mind www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201703123207606
