Didn't even think about SAGA despite both of us being over 50. Espadrille reckons we got a good deal because she turned 50 in December.

I'm not entirely convinced I've got the energy any more. I think they need to move the boundary out 10 years these days, at 50 I've still got children in school, and will have for another 7 years. I think most 50 year olds in previous generations were wondering about grandchildren.

...you should worry! It's so long ago that I last insured with SAGA, I've forgotten exactly when.....

The inside of the car was looking pretty grim, especially the seats, so this morning gave it a good vacuum and wipe down and then used various treatment the pale leather.
It has come up a treat. Much cleaner, the wear to the drivers bolster was more dirt than wear so it looks a lot better and it smells better too!
Last drove the car on Friday afternoon and on Sunday morning the suspension warning didn't light up which is good. I will have to get the minor leak fixed at some point but it's not urgent.

Strange malfunction of the suspension this morning. Car needed to raise itself up but then it seemed to stick at the highest position possible and didn't come down for several miles.
Think it's time for the new bellows ....

It's jealous of the Punto. 😉

Yes! I wish cars were a lot more simple than they are. Surely a jackscrew is a better design for a road going estate needing self-leveling rear suspension than something classed as a consumer item?

Just back from my annual fortnight of giving thanks for Mercedes self-levelling. Close to 2,000 miles (560 of them in one day) through France, Luxembourg, Germany, Belgium and France again, enjoying immaculate road manners while being overtaken by A6 estates dragging their exhausts on the ground.
Curious about one thing: the old E would take about 20 seconds to pump itself up when starting off with a full load, but I never noticed it letting itself down again. The CLS is different; unloading after a long, heavy journey, there’ll be a hiss and the car will gently sink at the back. Never suddenly enough to be alarming, just surprising after the previous car. I wonder if it’s reacting to the lessening load, to prevent the suspension from rising too high, because it doesn’t happen if we simply leave the car for a while en route.

Took the car in to be fixed this morning. Hve not driven it since Thursday. Needed to pump itself up but then decided that it needed more pumping whilst I was driving to the garage. I get a phone call just now... The nearside shock absorber has snapped its top link... So two new shocks on top two new bellows.. going to be expensive... and I can't get the car back until Thursday

So the Punto is being driven by son #2 as son #1 has gone on holiday. In the meantime my father has returned for three weeks and wants his Sirion for the term of his trip. So I'm on the tram....

Car back. What a delight to get back in it... The ride on brand new air suspension and shocks is a little firmer than before but still very comfortable. And so it should for £1,746!!!!
As the Bolognese would say "Countach! That's a lot of money. I think/hope the car is worth it...
