Yes please. Mine came back from the service in November looking much better and brighter, making me wonder whether there was some easy way of cleaning them that I’d been missing. They pretty soon reverted to their old, discoloured selves, though.

Exectly three years and four months since I bought the Merc I have rolled over 30,000 miles in it (now at ~50,960 miles). 9009 miles a year.
Despite all the naysayers on HJ, and my modest driving, I don't appear as yet to have suffered any DPF or other problems of a similar nature (watch out it'll die tomorrow). Maybe my daily seven miles on the motorway helps? I used a tankful of Shell V-power to go to London on Sunday and filled up today with BP Ultimate (the Shell station being closed). A nice long journey also makes the car feel that little bit sharper in the week afterwards. I hope the better more expensive fuel will keep that going...

Pity you're sharing that fuel out over so many cylinders. It'd probably be thicker if it was only stretched over 4.

Mine has more than 100,000 miles on it now, and the previous one went on to nigh on 200,000, both mainly on Sainsburys or Morrrisons cheapest diesel. No problems at all with either.
Make of that what you will.

Based on what the soothsayers say, given the type of driving I do, I should or may benefit from better more expensive fuel, whereas Humph's regular long distrance trips are so beneficial of themselves, that he is likely to be wasting money using V-Power or similar.

Got my insurance renewal quotation last week. Wanted about £480, up about £10. Thought I would have a shop around and wandered onto the LV= site. They had an offer on multi-car policies. Espadrilles insurance expires a week after mine. So after inputting all the information, it came up with £520 for both cars.
Before I agreed I checked on a couple of other sites. Admiral wanted over £1,100 for multi-car cover. Others wanted £400 just for Espadrilles car. Her existing company emailed today offering it at £477.
So from £960 as a renewal premium for two cars, we have 'saved' £440. A nice result...
I notice the CMA is going to investigate the fact that loyal customers pay more than new ones. And about time. My loyal clients get better deals from me that new ones.

I agree absolutely with your last line, although it's worked in your and my favour this time.
SWMBO is moving from a Group 15 Audi A1 to a Group 29 A3 convertible, yet it's going to cost about £50 less to insure it for a year. This is with Send All Grannies Away, who are always helpful, but their computer hasn't got the imagination to transfer a policy from one car to another, so it has to be a new policy. Thus she gets the deal for a new client.

Thanks for reminding me that I'm going to be eligible for SAGA next year.
