My forecast is also £203.85 but that assumes I'll continue paying the necessary minimum NIC for a few more years. Based on my contributions which are currently 5 years short the estimate is £178.29 per week. I also was contracted out and the COPE figure is £41.73 a week.
This has got me wondering a bit whether the estimate of pension has included the COPE??

Sorry - been busy these last couple days.
Congrats Humph. A good friend who was a partner in a big international accountancy firm retired a year ago and is now doing good quality charity work such as sitting on the board of governors of a local school and a hospice.
I need to find a good hobby for when I retire otherwise I will end up with a hunched back in front of a screen watching videos all day. I would happily volunteer to do some outdoor physical work such has laying dry stone walls.

AIUI COPE relates to the pension, usually that of your employer, by virtue of which you were contracted out of SERPS and its predecessors/successors. I get £x per month from my Civil Service Pension and assume COPE is part of that. What Govt Gateway prediction says you'll get is what they'll pay as 'State' pension once you're 66/67.

Thanks for clarifying. On one level it seems unfair that today an annual contribution of NICs of around £890 gives a full year but I used to pay many times that for decades.... And yet I'm short of 5 years. Might top up this year at some point as it's partly paid. But I'm 14 years away from a state pension like Al.

Nurse hasn't been round with the days-of-the-week pill box yet, evidently.

Tee hee! Fortunately I don’t need pills for anything yet, so I’ll stick with a diary and my trusty (dusty) plastic watch to keep track of the days of the week. (When I can be bothered) 😎

That's the great thing about not being ruled by the clock. You can behave like an inquisitive child, wander off, do whatever takes your fancy and then get a b********g when you get home for not telling anyone where you were going.

I’ve just had a letter inviting me to apply for my old age pension. I know it’s normal, and it feels like free money and so on, but it’s a bit of a blow to the ego to be reminded that I’m “that” old! I think I’d better ride my bike up a mountain this weekend again just to check I still can! 😬

On the one hand I'm looking forwards to retirement, on the other hand happy I'm not quite there yet with the way the economy is and the prospect of the orangeman returning to Washington to really bu99er things up.
Exercise done for today. Winter wheels cleaned and put away for the summer and the lawnmower serviced and ready to tackle the jungle that is hiding my garden.
