How many people are going to be on your bike? 🤓

It's comments like that that make my day fly by.
So, looking for the maximum number of people recorded on a bicycle, I came across a little true story that would make a fantastic movie. Turns out there were a couple of kids - sisters - who had a crush on the same boy. Michael had a tandem. They would argue incessantly about who was going to share the bicycle with Michael.
The parents intervened and built a three seater tandem (trandem?). All was well, but they had got the bug, and went on to build a 51 seater bicycle.
I can just see that as a kids film - could be a lot of fun, that.

…but they had got the bug, and went on to build a 51 seater bicycle. The Newtonian mechanics of that are rather terrifying. 51 people, even at a modest 60kg each, total more than three tonnes. If this was truly a bicycle, that’s all on two wheel-tyre-brake sets designed to cope with maybe 200kg. I’m going to have to look this up, I can tell.

Well, your bike copes quite well with what is asked of it doesn’t it? 😈
Yeah, I’m off up a hill now…

Yay. And under the new highway code that would have right of way here too.

Yes, presents and Christmas dinner are all done Christmas Eve here.
Pubs and restaurants will be closed by 1pm/2pm and everybody goes to their homes. Christmas Eve is the big family & home oriented time, usually until the early hours. Christmas Day is a bit of a non-event really - celebration wise.
The ceviche remains good, as does the wine.

The house doesn’t always win... we lost a moderator from here a few months ago! 😬 I was not aware. What happened there?

T&E left us — temporarily, I still hope — over what I think was a misunderstanding. There’ll be no questions or recriminations when he returns. This stuff really doesn’t matter that much but it’s nice when it works well.

Somehow I'm reminded of Dick Strawbridge (who appears to be living some sort of a dream in his chateau).

Me too. I strongly disliked it in the Enyaq I tried (an EV that can tow, incidentally) when it mistook longitudinal road repairs for white lines and tried to steer me to the left of them. I worked out what was going on and worked around it because there was no opportunity to switch it off, but there are drivers (I know one such quite well) who I seriously think might just panic, with unknown and potentially unpleasant consequences. Fifth Gear Recharge rates the Enyaq 33/40 which is the best score for an EV. Any new car is going to get hammered on lane keep assist by Joe Public which is why I might just keep my 2020 Focus which remembers when I switch this stuff off. Our 2020 KIA insists on reinstating all the electrickery on restart. Horrible, horrible car - The white markers in the buttons will be worn out before the lease ends cancelling the unnecessary internal policing. I've been driving since 1986, have I suddenly lost all ability to drive ?
I live in Germany and drive on the autobahn regularly FFS ! Contrary to popular belief, speed does not kill all the time ! Otherwise, how are there always Germans on the planet ?

I think the BMW 3 series remembers when some of these things are switched off but I've left the lane departure warning on. The Superb definitely remembered and you could switch off individual assistance after pressing a single button on the steering wheel and then unticking a selection.
