I'm lost. You show us 12-year-old bangers and nearly-news priced at more than I paid for my CLS; diesels, petrols, SUVs... All we need to complete the set are a space shuttle and a horse and cart. It's just a chat about cars. I said I couldn't stretch to that S-MAX, just that I quite liked it.
It's just the agony of choice. I could buy a banger, I could buy nearly new. Upsides and downsides to both approaches. No decision yet, hence on going discussion in the expectation that perhaps other ideas will crop up.
Meanwhile, the Outrager dealer is chasing me. Maybe there's a deal to be had.

SUVs are a bit like Mornington Crescent nowadays, no matter how much you try to deviate from that destination, that's where the game ends. Mummy trucks. They're all so desperate to be different that they all end up looking the same. ( my wife included by the way ) Pointless to resist.

That car's too small for us. I keep saying, we need an estate car sized vehicle, to get plenty of luggage in the boot.
It's an interesting car though, might be Ok to replace the Leaf in 2.5 years. I don't see a 0% offer on that page though.

Do wish I could convince the trouble and strife to move to a civilised country.

"Mummy trucks"
Popular in Egypt?
The S-Max would be a lot better to drive than either the Uitlander or the CRV: unfortunately most of them are diesels, but out of interest I looked on Autotrader and there are some petrols.

Did the S-max ever make the jump from the previous no deodorant [thank you, autocorrect] Mondeo platform to the current one? The name has been around for ten years or more but the car itself seems to have undergone no more than detail changes - DRLs and suchlike. I don't remember a big 'All New' relaunch.

The latest model is based upon the current Mondeo and Galaxy so presumably not as sharp a drive as the one I had. I really miss that car but the 2.0 petrol was not the best engine (mine was the 2.0TDCi). The newer model probably has a better engine now (1.5 Turbo?)
That one Alan showed us has a dreadful interior. No point in beige seats if the rest of the car is a coalmine. It needs lighter door trims and lower dashboard sections at least.

Doesn't bother me. My old BMW (still for sale, incidentally) was similar, as is the MB 'Porcelain' interior, which I'd happily have had if I'd found one before the 'Alpaca' I have now. Although perhaps the dark carpets suit a snug, intimate interior better than a great big one like the S-max.

Very pale interiors don't work well with kids in my experience. The calcite cream interior of my V50 10 years ago might have been a wee mistake on my part...

...might have been a wee mistake on my part... As long as it wasn’t on the driver’s seat you can probably blame the kids. 😈

My Outback has a cream interior. Admittedly not the daily family car, but it was easy to keep clean nevertheless.
