Yes - a bit like the types who bought Windows phones, who had to tell you at length how, provided you didn't need any apps or anything, they were actually very nearly as good as yours.

If I was in the UK I'd have that. Perfect for #1 daughter (16 last week). In fact, perfectly perfect, I wish such a thing was available here. I can't really can I? One of our suppliers has just offered me tickets to the Scotland / England game at Murrayfield. VIP hospitality lounge with lunch and drinks, flights or first class rail travel and a posh hotel with dinner for Friday and Saturday nights included. All free and for nowt. But, it clashes with my son's 18th birthday party which has been arranged for a long time. Can't really can I?...

1) Yes. 2) Take him with you. Surely his Mother can't shout at the Birthday Boy.

Our Code of Conduct people would be all over me if I even considered something like that.

Then I probably shouldn't work anywhere near your CoC people.

Hard to see how it would be different anywhere else. Certainly each of my previous employers has required me to agree to something like this example, from my current employer: Do not accept gifts, hospitality or entertainment from suppliers ... or customers that are expensive and/or likely to influence or appear to influence your judgement. ... Do not provide or accept hospitality or entertainment that would reflect negatively on [the company].
There's other stuff in the code to the effect that just because it appears to be common practice doesn't mean it's OK. There's a small 'ask your manager before accepting' get-out but I'd be amazed if mine said yes to something like this. I expect Vić and Bob - sorry, Rob - would say the same.
Smaller companies may be different but big ones now are acutely sensitive to gravy-train publicity and the damage it can do.

Coincidentally I've just done my annual online training on this subject today. I think a ticket to the game would be Ok, but the hospitality, travel etc would tip it over in to the "lavish" category, which isn't acceptable.
I could represent your company, Humph. Would be a pleasure. I'm quite the expert on footwear, as I wear some every day. You put them on your feet, and they wear out in the end however much they cost. Bit smelly after a while.
See? Expert. Michael Gove would hate me.

Yes, it’s CoC certification season. ‘Lavish’ is a word used disapprovingly in ours too. And all the provisions apply to ‘representatives’ of the company as much as to employees, so Vić’s extra practice with shoelaces won’t help him there.

Should've stuck to Velcro. I bet Humph loves Velcro fastening footwear.

I expect Vić and Bob - sorry, Rob - would say the same. Yes we would. Vic says our employer would be okay with tickets (I'd never have the chance) but the rest would be a big no.

Road tax at over £500pa means it will need someone like you wanting it. Expensive tax for a sub 4 grand car. And if you don't do many miles, the cost per mile will be high. Probably not going to depreciate quickly from that price though.

But what's the spares and repairs situation like for this brand these days? Been out of business for around 10 years now...
No desire for a Rover 75 Al? That'd be cheaper...
