Avant, as I keep saying to Humph, I need a large estate car on the fleet. The children generate significant loads, and we use it for long self-catering holiday trips with 4 bikes on top. Fabias ain't gonna do it.
Whilst Mrs A likes the Mazda and it is big enough, she's more attached to the Merc. And it is bigger and more economical, and dropping its annual mileage to 4k a year mitigates against potential wear and tear bills. Mrs A hardly ever drives though these days, she's a rail commuter. Her attachment to the Merc is more due to its superior comfort and light interior compared to the dark Mazda with less good seats.

It's back at the local indie today. But only front brake pads this time. Loan car is a bit of an improvement from the white wheeled wonder, a 2002 C240 saloon (auto), silver (natch) with light greyish leather interior and the coldest aircon I've felt in a while (think mine must need a re-gas, although I'm happy enough with it). Not as pokey as I expected and not significantly pokier than the C200 coupe last time. But a nice enough place to be for a 15 year old car.

A V6 2.6, according to Wikipedia (an early example of debadging to keep the model steps even.) But with all of 172hp, so hardly the last of the red-hot pokers.

Munich is, of course, a city of many up-market cars. Out at Starnberg yesterday I passed a new, white S550 cabriolet.
It looked like a beached belluga. Not really my kind of thing, but much float a few on here's boat.

Quite difficult to look anything other than a bit of a knob in though. Not to dispute its capabilities of course. But a large white cabriolet just isn't quite suitable for a gentleman is it?

Al, if you need the aircon serviced I can seriously recommend this guy: www.vehicools.co.uk/

I noticed in a moment of boredom last week that Humph has been citing you as a case study over in Fleeceworld - albeit to assist one of its less fleecy members.

Fess up time, think that was me, not Humph. Currently sitting in the BMW dealer while the infamous "need to talk to my manager" bollox is going on
