If my Ioniq failed to arrive I could be tempted by this. But, given the huge number of car detaiing videos on YouTube, why can't these dealers clean the cars before they photograph them. If you're going to take a close up photo of the SatNav screen at least clean the surround and remove the crumbs from the Edited by Humph - whoops fat fingers…😬 Have we gone all prudishly American??? Or did I manage to type something really unsuitable??

The Chris Bangle design for the 5 series didn't look so bad in estate form did it. It is something like that I should probably bu if I need something short term.
And it's a petrol because diesel might be very expensive soon if they don't do deals with other oil producers to replace crude from Russia.

…whereas petrol has no such problems because it’s made from fresh air and kittens? 😛

The government here is cutting their fuel tax by 25c a litre for the next 3 months. (Mind you their tax take went up 50-odd cents with the recent price rises).
Diesel will always be in supply - all the trucks need it. AdBlue might still be an issue though; supply is patchy at present and it could all go wrong.
It’d cost me about 20 grand to trade in and replace SWMBO’s Outlander like-for-like with a new, similarly-kitted diesel SUV, whereas I can just keep it and buy a new MG ZS alongside it for under 13 grand. Reckon I’d do that - provided the MG dealer wasn’t being a prat about needing a trade-in like that wassock in Al’s post.

I guess I’ll just have to use whichever car has some fuel in it if push comes to shove. Although I’d rather not push or shove any of them.

Perhaps if you had one you could simply refuel at home…? 😈

The crude oil the UK refineries currently rely on to mix with other oil to produce diesel comes from Russia.

I'd forgotten how bad the Allegro looked. The Escort of the time really was modern looking.

It does and always did, make me wonder why someone thought a three door estate was a good idea.

I'd forgotten how bad the Allegro looked. The Escort of the time really was modern looking. What time are we talking about? The Allegro first appeared in about 1974, when the Escort was the 1960s original — also with only a three-door estate (like the similarly old-tech Chevette) The Allegro was more modern than either — and I rather like the estate, although I’d prefer a 1979 one with the slim chrome bumpers.

I can just about remember my uncle getting one of the first Allegros. He didn't keep it long.

I was taking the reg plate of the example above (H) so it was 1980 I was referencing. Yes it had been around for a while but it was still on sale up against the Mark 3 Escort.
It also mentioned 1980 in the link which was when Ford introduced the new Escort although the mark 2 was still on sale as well.

The three door estate was the forerunner to the hatchback. Once the hatchback became mainstream the lesser doored estate became extinct.
