Have to make your own sandwiches now though. Always a downside eh? But, at least you don't have to put the Morris dancer fancy dress on. 😉

Do pay attention, Humph! Covid rules mean we're not even allowed inside to change, and there's been no catering since 2019. We have to travel changed and sit on the outfield to eat the sandwiches we've brought with us - which would not have been fun today. Not what most of us signed up for but it's (usually) better than not playing at all.

Someone needs to write a strongly worded letter to the ECB.

We go to grounds where it feels a bit like that. Fortunately not many of them; one of the things I like about this league is the places we get to visit. Today's is one I don't much mind missing, though.

We have a canopy over our patio so managed a couple of hours this lunchtime with two couples, eating and drinking. It was pretty wet beyond the covers but not too cold. Not something I'd want to do regularly.

When are you moving South ESPIII? Living in Manchester and not wanting rain does not compute.

There's rain and then there's RAIN! Even hardy northeners like me find that there can be too much rain at times. Only occasionally mind.. Don't get me mixed up with being a soft southener. It's Bath not Barth...

Reports today that SAGE are worried about an impending third wave due to the Indian variant. Scaremongering, or..?

I think we're right to be concerned but to me it has been the media in the UK that is making this look like doom and gloom. We need to wait a few weeks before we know how bad it gets. In the meantime we need to continue with our vaccinations. Information that has not been released but would be important to judge this for ourselves: - Did the people who tested positive for this have a vaccine dose or even two? - What age groups are these? - Had they recently travelled to say.... India? - etc. A lot is not known - to us at least. I would wager that the areas impacted like Bolton for example have a lot who have not been vaccinated (ethnic minorities?) and live in houses with many people as some ethnic minorities often do with their close family units. Too early to panic I say. Fingers crossed a dose or two of one of the vaccines approved in the UK offers good protection. But not 6 doses like that women was given by mistake.

Second jab today. A long line at 09:00 at the centre, with apparently 1,400 to be done today. Centre is a The Manchester Muslim College and thankfully a reasonable number of that community were present to be vaccinated. Many were young and having their first jab.
My daughter who is only 16 and a 1/2 had the opportunity for the Pfizer jab on Wednesday so took it. The centre where a friend was volunteering as a meeter and greeter sent a message round to say there were spare vaccines and Espadrille asked the question about our daughter; she was told they were happy to do it - get here now! Within an hour she was done.
So it means that in a few months we should all be able to travel with limited restrictions.

Well now, a ride up and around Llandegla this morning, a dog walk in the afternoon...and ( drum roll ) my first 1000m in the pool since March 2020 this evening.
Might sleep quite well tonight !

When you take the F2F element out of the Sales profession there really ain’t a lot going on is there? Seems to me at the moment that either customers aren’t buying anything whilst they are in the process of their own restructures (saving their own jobs), or you sell what you’ve got without trying because of lack of supply, production and delivery delays,... etc.
Only so many Zoom/Teams/GoTo/Google Meet meetings one can do. May as well go biking, walking, skiing, swimming,..!

That must depend where you look and what you’re selling. Sales activity in my business (IT services to banks and similar) is as busy as it’s been in the four years I’ve done this job. I miss the travel and the human contact but, since we’re not touting physical stuff, it’s still reasonably easy to put our offers across by virtual means.
I had a dream last night in which I got up and dressed in my habitual WAH style, then remembered in a panic that I had to be in the office for a sales briefing. The old habits will take some re-learning when the time eventually comes.
