I remember a white pudding supper from the chippy in Stirling when I lived there in 1988 🤪. 90p special on Fridays

Getting worked up by Gruinaud non-news is not good for your health WDB. That advice was given by the joint committee and fully backed by the BMA. Wait for them to start trumpetting that vaccine priorities may have to change again. (Without mentioning that Pfizer have just slashed their global supply targets by 50%). BTW, it appears that they have a solution for the distribution problems.

People in the 50-60 age group are waaaay down the list to the vaccine anyway Humph, so I wouldn’t get too worked up...

Humph is further up the list than most of us — if you see what I mean. 😉

If that implies a higher level of importance, then who am I to...etc... 😎

I imagine Sweden are hoping for a swift vaccine rollout. Who do you suppose is not?

Fair point. Not many places have covered themselves in glory over this, but at least we don't have to listen to calls for the Swedish way any more from "lockdown sceptics".
New Zealand, Australia maybe. Not quite as urgent due to their rational management of the disease.

Christmas. I'm not blind to how emotionally attached some people are to the concept of Christmas, and all that goes with it, however it is celebrated. Not relaxing the Covid rules and effectively outlawing family and or religious gatherings over that period, would be a huge disappointment to many of course.
But, it's pretty clear that to do so risks (guarantees?) another infection spike, and bluntly, increased deaths.
If it was in my power, I'd keep the restrictions in place over Christmas, but offer the consolation prize of an extra, "Not Christmas" bank holiday weekend in the summer of 2021.

Increased deaths, and closures of essential establishments like schools. Much sentimental talk of hugging grandparents. A fine thing in principle but probably more enjoyable for all if it isn’t contributing to more months of avoidable misery.
We’ve already had the talk with Boy1 that he won’t be visiting or hosting his girlfriend even during the Five Days. We went along with this during the summer but the stakes are higher — individually and for society — this time round. There’s still a chance Boy2 will get to do his A-levels, and that will evaporate with a new wave in the new year.
I like the non-Christmas idea. A generation ago, my dad acknowledged that we preferred to do the winter festival in our own home by inviting us to Alternative Christmas the weekend of the August bank holiday, which worked beautifully. Let’s have the national equivalent over a long weekend in June!

I hope we don't get to Easter and everyone is let loose again and the cycle repeats for another twelve months.

The vaccination programme will be in full swing by Easter, and the problem will be much reduced.
For this Christmas, I'm still planning to host my Mum and step father, from 24th - 27th. If the governments don't change the rules again and prevent it. We are starting a voluntary isolation at each end tomorrow, as the children's school term finishes. Nobody will leave the house other than for exercise, everything is already here for Christmas or will be delivered. I think that mitigates the risk far enough.

Now just the other 63,999,994 to follow suit and you'll be good to go by February.
