I've beaten this drum before, but I really don't get saloons. I've had some of course, they were more popular last century, but they just feel like they're not making the best use of space, without any aesthetic advantage. Except Alfa Giulias of course. A black Alfa saloon passed the cricket ground where we were playing yesterday. Its sweet lines and shiny paintwork contrasted smartly with the yellow of the AA van towing it. It occurred to me then to wonder whether the configurator on the Alfa website might offer that view, to show how your selected colour and wheels match the aesthetics of your breakdown provider.

...and at Oulton Park, get there early, park the car on the hill with its rear facing the track, open the tailgate and flask, biscuits, sandwiches etc, sit on the the back of the car and watch the races in comfort.

Finally, I've been looking for quite some time to justify a Taliban Taxi and here it is:

I'd be afraid of forgetting it was that far off the ground when nipping out for a pee at night...

Well, you can buy the annex which goes on the ground under the tent between the ladder and the back of the vehicle or, you can drink enough gin and pass out on the flat bed.

Taliban taxis are far and away the best-selling new vehicles in NZ. Gotta have that rufty-tufty look image to go with the outdoors lifestyle...
Overpriced agricultural rubbish IMHO. And with a nausea-inducing rear bench seat and crude suspension; great for family outings.
I am surprised that the Merc version was a sales flop.

I'm guessing that was because the Mercedes is no more than a tarted-up Nissan Navara, and the Nissan is cheaper.

...and, they’ve been selling them ( XClass ) through the truck dealerships rather than the car ones, which may in fact have completely missed the target market.
I test drove one when they first came out. It was surprisingly good to drive.

All SUVs and pick up trucks should be sold through agricultural machinery and commercial vehicle dealers. People who only need cars would then perhaps be discouraged from buying the wretched things.

Strange thing today, I saw a Ford Puma parked next to a Focus Active estate. The Focus was taller than the crossover.
Less than a week now to changeover day. Bye bye RS hello ST automatic estate. On reflection I'll miss the RS though, judging by plods activity with mobile speed cameras now people are returning to work, now might be a good time to change.

If it's only got Californian wine, I could leave it quite easily.

Puma is based on the Fiesta so perhaps not surprising the Focus Active is taller.
A car I could have got as a PHEV was the Kuga.... didn't warm to it although never sat in one. Did not like the interior for starters. Probably great to drive.

Imma swinging back to keeping the Leaf and getting a third car next winter. This is because we've started a bit of cautious pottering about locally, and it is really obvious that a smallish electric car is absolutely the best thing since sliced bread for where we live and what we mostly do with a car.
Gah. I feel like Mavis out of off of that Coronation Street.

Oh don't beat yourself up too much. I've got a black belt in inertia. We bought this house off plan 18 years ago. I've never liked it, and in my mind, it is only a temporary stopgap property...🤔
