Enjoy the holiday, I had need during the week to drive into Bitburg to pick up supplies. No queues, supermarkets fully stocked, social distancing no problem at all. Being stuck in the house for four months I keep forgetting my mask. I've now attached one to the rear view mirror of each car. Royal PItA having too go out twice for the same thing.

I do hope there isn't a cement works next door :-)
Although looking at the location on a map there isn't. I hope the road isn't too busy for you. Otherwise you'll wish you had got those noise cancelling headphones.
Enjoy.

I hope he's gone to bed early for the drive. I'd assumed it was a bit further north in France. But really having had a look on a map that's a long drive tomorrow! Hope he's sharing it.

I've done the tour twice. Nah ! Beer is easier to get than water in that area, no need for any special journeys for the beer. If I were that close to the Belgian border, I might need a special journey. Don't get me wrong, I can drink and enjoy German bier, especially when it's hot and I am in the midst of (or following) exercise. It's just that, to my palate, a lot of it is very "samey". I have come across some rather more interesting stuff, particularly at the small breweries (though the Rauchbier in Bamberg is a bit of an acquired taste) but for the ubiquitous stuff, the variety of taste isn't enough for me. I find myself on Dunkel or Marzen or a decent Schwarzbier simply to get a change. I do like a Hefe-Weizen when it's really hot, though that is (for me)a one or two bottle drink at most (though I introduced a work colleague to it in a previous life on a visit to HP in Sindelfingen*, who didn't follow that rule, and was very ill the next morning ) *Edited to add, that might have been Böblingen, Sindelfingen was IBM I think.

Sindelfingen was certainly a large IBM location, mainly mainframe stuff I seem to recall from my trips there in the 80s I do remember beer being available at lunchtime in the canteen.

I can get Belgian beer very easily, mate of mine here is Belgian and goes back a couple of times per month. I know what you mean about the beer being a bit samey. I'm not a fan of malty Pils, some of the mainstream beers are too fizzy, I prefer kõlsch. I've seen people drinking wheat beers in summer, I prefer one or two in the cooler months. It's like winter broth and a bit heavy for me.

Well, it's coming up for 09.20 on Saturday UK time. "He" should be getting well into northern France by now (in theory)
Wish we had a a sort of "Santa tracker" arrangement in place. Can't believe how invested I am in this trip!

Took his bike after all I see?
I'm just working up to shovelling and wheelbarrowing 3 tons of pebbles and 2 tons of topsoil from the front drive of my in-laws house up to the bottom of their back garden.
My wife's idea, bless her. Pray for my back please...😬

Took his bike after all I see? ...and his shopping trolley for the drive-by click n'collect. Strategically located so the car doesn't have to be unpacked when they call in on the way to the villa.

...just a bit jealous of Al, we've decided we could risk a short French break, so we're off to Ste Venage tomorrow.
