How do you reduce the "size" of a photo on an ipad then? Was going to put mine on the avatar but it won't let me because it has too many thingies

I don't know iOS stuff, but you could upload to a free photo editor, reduce the file size and then save back on your iPad for uploading as an avatar.

Now in a mild form of lock-down. Can go for short walks as well as shopping, medical appointments, work (if deemed essential). Not too bad, but for a minimum period of seven days. Chicken soup is required...
