I can't get that avatar thing to work so this will just have to do. Close enough... 😎

Anyway, where's Bruce Willis in all this?
Exactly the sort of international crisis he'd deal with while wearing a vest.

How do you reduce the "size" of a photo on an ipad then? Was going to put mine on the avatar but it won't let me because it has too many thingies My quick and dirty way is to email it to myself and select one of the reduced-size options. My avatar is already a photograph. Gah, I was going to make that joke. Beat me to it.

Look I know it's for all the right reasons etc. But one of my biggest disappointments ( so far ) is the closing of leisure centres and swimming pools.
The reason I swim so much is not just for the hell of it, but as part of an ongoing therapy for an old, but pretty serious back injury. I used to be a keen horse rider and one day had an appalling fall which resulted in a compression fracture of my spine. I recovered with reasonable mobility in due course, but the only excercise I've found that can keep it untangled and the pain at bay, is regular swimming. I just know that one of the first things to go into "lockdown" will be my back. 😬

That's a shame because a swimming pool complex may well be a breeding ground for bacteria etc, but the chlorine should viruses pretty easily. I remember the old 'Bath's near my father's depot where I learnt to swim about 50 years ago. It had phenolic soap in the showers. You were pretty clean when you got in the pool and sterile when you got out.....

I suspect the problem isn’t so much the pool as the changing rooms. Very hard to get in and out without leaving a trail on the hard surfaces.
At my gym on Thursday there were more elves than users, and one elf was assiduously disinfecting each piece of cardio kit as soon as anyone had finished with it. But there were no elves in the changing room.

Won’t they close the gym any day now?
I’m still shocked and saddened that Spain has closed the beaches. People need exercise and fresh air, and it’s not difficult to maintain social distancing on a huge stretch of seafront! Surely less risky than sharing a supermarket.

Lots of the privately owned MTB trail centres closed. I get why they might shut the visitor centres, but when on the trails you can often go for miles without seeing anyone. They're claiming it's because they don't want to put any additional strain on the emergency services in the event of injuries.
Forestry Commission owned trails still open for now though. Which is ironic because they tend to be a lot busier with walkers etc.
