I see, sse. Horrible website, getreading. As are all local media outlets. ....especially without an adblocker. Viz-a-viz being isolated in a caravan/motorcaravan - whilst it isn't of course Spain, I've just received an eMail from the Caravan Club inviting me to get away, as they're open for business and have stepped up their hygiene arrangements! I suppose it's something to do with the kids when you're (supposedly) WFH and they've been thrown out of school.......... (TBH, if the weather had stayed OK last week, we might have had a last 3 days away then, as I was anticipating a significant change in direction - as of last weekend, no chance!) There are some interesting conundrums coming up - how do I get the car serviced or MOT'd if the country is locked down with only essential services running? (the former is trivial really - though it is already paid for on a service plan, the latter is probably going to lead to some block dispensation). Which hairstyle are we all going for if we can't get to the barber (or in Humph's case, the hairdresser)? I'm lucky enough to still have the full choice from 60's hippy, through mullet and pony-tail to buzz-cut (fully-shaven might scare the horses, though )

I hate my hair getting over the top of my ears even, so I'm going to buy some clippers online and buzz myself at number 3. Have already shaved off my 20 year old beard, health hazard see? Children were quite discomobulated, they'd ever seen my face before.
Leaf passed MOT recently, Civic is up late August. Hopefully there'll be a garage open before then....but it would be great if the government announced a temporary amnesty.

Got a reminder this morning the Focus is due back at the end of August. Do I want a new car, extend existing finance or buy outright? Nothing unusual there.
Think I'll hold off until May. No new RS on the horizon, factories shutdown, who knows where we'll be economy wise in 6 months.

Funny Al's beard going. I stop shaving the day I arrived here (week last Sunday). I'm not so hirsute, but just wanted to see how long it got before I embarked on a plane to go home. It could be by my knees at this rate.
Daughter is disraught at school closing. She is a good student; not particularly clever but tries her best. She will miss the interaction and the challenge. Pity I am not home to help her. Any suggestions for on-line learning for Year 10?
Thinking about the cars but I think the first car due an MoT and service is the Daihatsu in June but it is not being driven at the moment anyway. So I think that I will SORN it and worry about MoT and insurance when I get home or the country opens for business again.
The UK ambassador to Israel is in 14 day self-isolation as is one my acquaintances who is Israeli, but works at the Embassy. They both came into contact with a known virus carrier about a week ago... Just waiting for someone I know well to come down with it.
Also discovering the effect of the virus on people who haven't got it. A friend's sister has a condition which requires a short term dose of tablets which can damage the body if taken for too long, and then surgery. She was meant to have an operation next week, but has been told it's off and 'keep taking the tablets'. If she dies, she won't be in the virus statistics but a person would have died as a direct result of the virus. Horrible.
After several days of taking dad to medical appointments each day I am looking forward to day tomorrow I can spend without going anywhere. But the weather is poor so I can't even sit on the balcony, I cleaned so beautifully earlier in the week. I'll have to do some work...

Also discovering the effect of the virus on people who haven't got it......... One of our regular walking friends has (partially through her own poor decision making, but mainly it seems to us through a cock-up involving two different hospitals that use different procedures) has largely lost the vision in one eye. After pushing her around for some months now, they seem to finally have admitted to themselves that they've cocked-up, realised what is wrong, and decided they might be able to do something about it if they act now. First appointment in the process of attempting repair was tomorrow - heard today all eye appointments at the major hospital now postponed sine die.

Any suggestions for on-line learning for Year 10? My Year 7 daughter is the same. She came home in tears last night. She absolutely adores her new school, after hating the previous one (well, the other children attending it, mainly). Again, not hugely gifted but so conscientious and such a hard worker. It would be tragic if this knocks it out of her. Our school is well set up for distance learning and will be briefing the children on what will happen in the coming weeks, and how, over the next 2 days before closure. My indolent older son (Year 10) just thinks it's a massive laugh and imagines he's going to be putting his feet up until September. Wrong. He has a very mild asthma diagnosis and thinks that is reason for him to self-isolate for 3 months at least. Well, they'll be home for at least a month now, let's see how much cabin fever he gets. Incredible how different 2 children from the same place can be.

Well with us all missing out on a bit of the old human contact for a while, I've changed my avatar to an actual picture of myself, enjoying a cold one on my recent ski trip. Good times.
Form a queue, ladies.
P.S. The beard is always very short for skiing, helps with the helmet chin strap, see?

You look like someone. Most probably yourself of course. But you know what I mean.
A younger Timothy West maybe.

As long as it's not Fred West. Or Rosemary, come to that.
I had a bunch of lads at the Munich Oktoberfest convinced I was Boris Becker once, but they were very, very drunk.

Actually, I get that. I sat next to him and his son on a plane once. He was very drunk too at the time.
Big guy. Much bigger than I'd imagined.

Looks a bit Rory Bremner to my eyes - I know, I do wear glasses.
