Yikes, bad luck Esp. There but for etc. Boy1 got a clear PCR this morning after one of his Southampton housemates reported a positive on Monday. He’s up to date on vaccines and a week past his third, so it wasn’t a mandatory isolation or test but he’s Mister Punctilious and had been doing daily LFTs since Friday.
I picked him up there on Sunday but didn’t meet the housemate, and my LFTs are clear too. But the risk increases with every change of scene, so I’m seeing this as one we got away with, necessary as it was.
Take it easy and be well.

WDB I assume you'll be making sure he does more LFTs in the coming days. You can test negative in the morning but be positive only a few hours later.
I don't particularly want to be going to family in Brighton for the next few days due to this new Covid variant. Seems a bit risky but I'm just the driver to get us there really.

I won’t have to make sure. It would be harder to stop him!

Well, a rather strange day. Woke up after a mixed night of sleep and wake, toddled off to the PCR test place about two miles away and then came home.
Felt a bit woozy but not too bad.. just a heavy cold. Had breakfast (poached eggs on toast and tea) and then settled down to some work. However as the day went on I felt more woozy and whilst the cold like symptoms are receding slowly, I have thrown up three times and my balance is off. Lunch didn't stay down and I am limiting myself to water at the moment.
Waiting for the PCR result...

Whatever the cause turns out to be, it’s never fun feeling like that. Hope you’re on the mend soon, Esp.

Yes indeed, take care of yourself Esp. In a search for silver linings, about the only one I can think of is that you won’t be needing the car you don’t have for a while anyway. 🤔

indeed. Still very queasy but spoken to my GP who was not overly concerned and has prescribed some anti-emetic tablets. Liquids stay down but solids don't. Most other symptoms have gone or are going. No cough, no runny nose, a bit of phlegm, just a bit weary and woosy.
Looking forward to chicken soup tonight. Jewish penecillin - finest kind...

OK, so....
Friday was not a good day. Threw up again twice but the feeling of sickness slowly went although I don't know if that was the tablets the GP gave me (very good service - from telephone consulation to tablets at my bedside courtesy of Espadrille within 90 minutes) or just Covid subsiding.
Anyway I was able to take a little chicken soup on Friday night and I slept pretty well including a lot of Saturday morning. Started feeling better yesterday lunchtime, with hunger pangs taking over from queasiness. I now have my appetite back and the lack of balance issue is mostly but not totally gone. Just waiting for some negative LFTs to let me out by Tuesday - I hope. Worst case will be Thursday.
One curious things. My NHS App which shows the domestic 'passport' and the travel passport with the details of vaccinations are not showing correctly. I suspect this is down to my positive result. I hope it returns to normal as I do want to travel at some point. I suspect travel for the next two or three years will require some form of testing and/or vaccination proof.

Sorry to hear you've been feeling unwell. I assume the PCR was positive - didn't spot that when scanning. Funny you should mention upset stomach... back at the start of the pandemic hitting the UK I was under the weather with some of your symptoms and felt under the weather for days. Slept a lot and had an upset stomach but not sick (didn't eat). To this day I wonder if I had Covid back then but noway of knowing.
I hope you're better soon. Sounds like you're on the mend.

Sorry - Yes PCR result came back as expected - positive.
Also had a call from Test and Trace. Some rather mild questions about who I lived with, where I had been in the last week or so before symptoms happened. Today, Espadrillette tested positive on an LFT so she and her mother went for PCRs and so 2/3 of the household is in isolation and it could be 3/3 by tomorrow.
My afternoon LFT today was positive so no release for me until Wednesday at the moment.

Oh dear. Hope none of you are really unwell. Sounds like you're on the mend though Espada.
So it seems the time from exposure to symptoms and/or a positive LFT is short. I'm going to keep doing my daily LFT as I've done for the last week. Not every day before that.

Sorry to hear that you are unwell Esp. No place like home when you are sick - it’s usually much worse if you’re overseas, or in a strange hotel where doctors/ medicines/ foods are much harder to obtain.
