Latest edict from Scotland... - No large public events from 26 December and Public asked to limit socialising from 27 December
- Limits are 100 people standing indoors, 200 seated indoors and 500 at outdoor events
- 1m physical distancing at all events
- Sports matches including football are spectator-free for three weeks
- Edinburgh's Hogmanay is cancelled
- LTable-service only returns to hospitality with 1m distancing between groups and no more than three households together
- An additional additional £175m is made available for business support
- Schools will re-open as planned in January
- Test and Protect will prioritise high-risk settings
Mostly makes sense, especially to keep schools open. Shame about the football, but it's not that good north of the border anyway

The main thing in their favour — as with similar changes in Wales— is timing, or rather, timeliness. Rather than faffing about until there’s no choice and the damage is done, as ‘England’ did in 2020 and is doing all over again, it’s better to tell the people clearly and promptly what not to do and which areas — notably schools — are to be protected as long as possible.

Whatever you might think of Sturgeon’s politics (in my case not much) it’s clear that she is a strong and committed leader.

I have to say that I think this is the first time I think that she has done something for her country without it having any bearing on herself or Independence.
I don't see why Boris doesn't use these as guideines anyway. They do seem perfectly reasonable.
In other news, I have developed a cough since midnight. Having done an LFT on Monday morning after I came back from Newcastle Sunday evening, I did another this afternoon. Both negative. Son #1 though went to an engagement party in London on Sunday evening and for peace of mind did an LFT on Monday morning. He is now positive after that and a PCR.
I am staying away from people now until we go away (hopefully) on Sunday to the Brecon Beacons.

NHS Advice in your circumstances EIII is to get a PCR, not a leteral flow, as you are exhibiting symptoms.

Well I'd say you need to get a PCR but daily LFTs for everyone else in the meantime in the meantime, assuming you can get enough. Son #1 is not going to the Brecon Beacons unfortunately but you know that right - he has Covid and has to self isolate for 10 days. Although from timing of Sunday evening to Monday morning it might mean he picked it up earlier.
As Chris Whitty said the other day, we should choose to go to events important to us. The engagement was important that going to Brecon for your son I guess. But it might mean the rest of you don't go now either. Your cough might an indicator you have it anyway. Apparently you can do a Covid test and be negative and do another in a few hours and show positive - it changes that fast.
If you have a smartphone with a heart rate monitor, it would be interesting to check oxygen levels if it also offers that feature - my Galaxy S9 does that and that's years old.

Not that it’s much consolation to you lot, but here down under it’s summer, there are about 60 new cases per day being recorded, we’ve had about 50 deaths since March 2020, we’re allegedly over 90% double-vaxxed,.... AND WE’RE HEADING FOR THE SAME COVID RESTRICTIONS AS THE UK! Wtf? I’m not a conspiracy theorist but... Did everyone in Brazil, Fiji & India die like they said they would? Never hear any more about those countries.... 🤔

You probably knew this was going to happen when you started coughing. If the PCR is positive that sadly for you has messed up the Brecon Beacon plans then. Even with the new rules in England day 7 is not soon enough and do those rules even apply to Wales or is it ten days of isolation.
Fingers crossed we make it to Brighton okay tomorrow. My LFT done 30 minutes ago showing negative thankfully.

Sheesh Espada, your new car is going to be late, you have a key member off staff long term sick and now this. Not the best of weeks eh? Erm, happy holidays or something anyway. 😬

Yeah. At least clients won't call over the next ten days.... Two people rang today and were seemingly totally unaware that I was about to close the office until 4th January.
I have looked at the regulations and assuming I manage two negative LFTs, the last one being on Monday afternoon, I think I can salvage part of the trip; just arrive a day or so late. Have to see how I feel in any event.

Take it easy in any event. Multiple setbacks can have multiple effects. Be a bit kind to yourself for a while.
