Isn’t that the one we saw the other week, with the transposed wiper and indicator stalks?

Aye, which is why I'd said you'd missed it.

Yummo. Surprised to see this one was manufactured in Finland, though.

Have either of the electrickery car drivers asked their insurers for a quote adding a learner/new driver to their policy ? It may be a bit early for Al, just curious what the premium might be given the initial performance at the traffic light grand-prix and whether or not insurers have started loading this yet.

Ain’t nobody gonna b driving anywhere for the next few months anyway!
Personal mobility as we know it may be changing forever.
I keep envisioning a James Bond-style villain who has orchestrated all this to change the world, to suit their own agenda!

Our i3 costs less than £300 to insure, admittedly for two solid, pointless citizens in what I imagine is a very low-risk area. Based on that it might not be prohibitive to insure one or more juniors to drive it. I do intend to ask, but we’re still no closer to either getting a licence.
Boy1’s university term has been cut short by a week. Perhaps he’ll use that time to make a start.

Boy1’s university term has been cut short by a week. Perhaps he’ll use that time to make a start. I'm not sure how an electric car qualifies, in terms of auto/manual licence. As I've posted before, if the main learning process is via a driving instructor (IMO, a good idea), it might well prove more cost effective to provide cover on your own car, whilst learning only, via a specialist, additional, learner driver insurance. We did the same with number 1 son, allowing him to drive under supervision whilst we visited various place, days out, etc. thereby gaining additional experience. As an extra cover, it is appropriate only whilst the nominated (learner) driver is using an otherwise insured, and nominated, car, under supervision. Cover expires as soon as they pass their test, and is available in 1 month upwards periods. Gave a good opportunity to increase driving experience in SWMBO's car at a reasonable rate.

I know what you mean of course, WDB, but I wish I had the ability to draw a cartoon of "two solid, pointless citizens". Local councillors perhaps, who have just been kicked out by the electorate.

Our i3 costs less than £300 to insure... Hopefully, the insurance industry have calmed down a bit in recent years. I was paying around £330 a year for my S60 D5 in 2012. I knew I wasn't going to get very much for it as a trade-in - that car is still going today with more than 230,000 miles on the clock according to the MOT checker. I thought I'd give it to my eldest son who was then approaching 20 with a years insurance thrown in. He had no accidents, no points and a couple of years NCD to his name. I was quoted between a few pounds shy of £14,000 up to £25,000 for a years cover with a York postcode. I think that was very much a case of we have to make you an offer but don't want your business territory.
