How is Al Jnr getting on with learning to drive? Must be fairly well on by now you’d think? Corolla behaving itself?

Well. Let's just say there has been a motivation issue. Also he's been feeling overwhelmed with school work - his L6 exams in a couple of weeks have extreme significance toward his University application, as he's chosing to apply for one of the most competitive fields of study imaginable, so those results and the resulting predicted grades will have an enormous bearing. Hence, he hasn't found much time for driving lessons and I'm not inclined to nag him about it. I'm hoping to get him to give it a proper go after the exam period and over the summer.
I'm glad I was a teenager when I was a teenager.
Corolla is fine, but barely moving, so you'd expect that. I drive it around aimlessly every now and again to keep it lose.

Well, it’s good to know you’re not aiming for anything when you drive it.

Oof, I wonder if the sunroof will ever be persuaded to close again.

Now my daughter is an age where she will soon be behind the wheel, Aygo or one of these:
Edit: and you thought used cars in the UK were pricey:
I'm having an orange day:

I had a black one (127 Sport) when I was 18 - my second car after a few months of chugging around in a knackered Mk 1 Escort 1.1. It ended its days by means of a Ford Granada driving into it.
Mine was shagged, even before Granada day. I shouldn't have bought it, but it was so, so shiny that I didn't bother worrying about unimportant things, like "does it work". The radiator was knackered, the gearbox was about to disintegrate, probably various other things I've forgotten, and it's probably for the best that the Granada came along and put it out of its misery. It was on the wrong sized wheels, I think they were from a Strada, and the back tyres rubbed on the suspension parts if someone was sat in the back.
I loved it.
The one in that ad also has non-original wheels, and a non-original gear knob, amongst other "improvements". Big, big asking price. Mental, in fact, even for an utter fanboi like myself.
Mine was replaced with a Beetle 1303, which was equally as rotten and broken. It was then that I wised up, and became the owner of the fabled FIAT Regata 70. Which was just so, so modern and reliable and comfortable and just utterly brilliant, compared to the Hescort, 127 Sport and the Beetle. On my 4th car by the age of 19...
I always wanted a Mirafiori, though. Mind you they were just reskinned 124s, or, as most of the world calls them, Ladas. The Regata was a category improvement on the Mirafiori, IMHO, even though there was never a "hot" version.
And that Uno looks decent value...

Must have been a FIAT 127 thing, mine also rubbed on the back arches when someone sat in the back, the previous owner of mine thought they'd save a few quid and put standard 155x13 tyres on instead of 155/70 x 13 or whatever they were supposed to be. That extra 10% made a difference. The 127 in the advert has been extensively rebuilt, the 26k kms is since it was restored. Must resist though, it's only about 30 miles from where I live. The Mirafiora on the other hand. I know it's a copy, it was a car I always wanted my dad to get when he had the 128 Sport SL. Thankfully, it is in Munich so no chance of me popping out for a look.

There was another guy in my year at school, had an orange 127 Sport at the same time. We used to try and park them nose to nose in the street outside. No it didn't get us laid. Much. Mind you it was a boys' school so just as well really.

There's a FIAT Strada/Ritmo cabriolet advertised on there for 33,333€.
I'm guessing someone has been told to get rid of it but they're not quite ready to let it go. "I've advertised it but no one is buying at the moment" kind of thing.

The Uno is one of those small cars, designed to be left-hand drive, that simply didn’t work with the driver on the right. My memory of a demo drive in a downpour on the Chichester bypass is of having to turn my right foot almost parallel to the floor to get my knee past the steering wheel and still work the pedals without the wheelarch getting in the way. Oh, and only one wiper, without the Aygo’s clever pantograph arm, meant that I couldn’t see where I was going either.
I bought an Escort instead, but I suppose the other option would have been to move to Italy.
