Yep, every day is a black Tyreday.
Anyone else grown very weary of this none sale event ? I bought a new phone last month for 195€. The manufacturer notified me earlier this week it was reduced from 299,99€ to 224,99€ in their black Friday event 🙄

I've added it as an extra car to my multicar policy, which is due for renewal in March. It was £68 to do that for the remainder of the policy. But I haven't added the boy yet. Because I need it insured tomorrow, and he can't be added until his birthday.

Good luck with the new car. I never got on with Toyota's when I had them as hire cars. Don't know why I didn't like them.
That's a lot more car and in better condition than my first car that's for sure. That was a 10 year old Fiesta and I paid about £900 for it I think so about £1500 in today' money.

Good luck with the new car. I never got on with Toyota's when I had them as hire cars. Don't know why I didn't like them. They used to have the indicator stalk on the right (ie wrong) side. I hired a Carina E like that once. I remember flashing a bloke in a Capri (!) when all I wanted was to wash the windscreen.

The Nissan's I had as hire cars had the indicator stalk on the right hand side too but that didn't bother me. I just didn't like Toyotas. I test drove a Toyota Avensis when selecting a car in 2007. Compared to the Mazda6 I got the Avensis would have been cheaper and better equipped - I didn't like driving it, didn't like the interior and the exterior was the jelly mould styling.
On the other hand the Nissan Primeras and Honda Accords I sometimes got as hire cars in the late 90s were nice to drive.

Never tried an Accord but yes to the Mk1 Primera. Ugly but very capable car — brought that to the family sector ahead of the Mondeo. I should probably have bought one (or indeed, almost anything) instead of an Astra but I was single at the time and it seemed a bit big.

Down in this part of the world the Asian manufacturers persist with putting the indicator stalk on the right, whereas European brands have it on the left. The windscreen scoosh and headlamp flash are often muddled up...
Plenty of those old Toyotas still plying the roads here Al; they can’t be all that bad. You’ll soon forget the price you paid if it gives a few years reliable service. What’s a couple hundred quid in the bigger scheme of things? A full tank of petrol is going to cost a hundred quid soon..! 🤨

Many years ago a colleague had a Carina E as a company car and I borrowed it one day. I was so glad when I delivered it back. It was totally gutless.

Damn and blast. I have missed the Kwik Fit Michelin Cross Climate offer properly now. In fact Kwik Fit are out of stock on all brands of all-season tyres in the size I need for the Corolla (175/64/r14), they've all gorn orf the website. I was so rushed on Friday and busy over the weekend I thought it wouldn't be a problem to leave it until Monday. Oh well. So, I've ordered some others from Asda Tyres, Uniroyal All Season Experts at £50 each including Black Friday discount. Fitting tomorrow at a very local back street geezer's. I trust that brand meets the approval of the board.

Well, we’ve heard of it, which is a good start. 🤓
The Biscuit Tin passed its MoT this morning, once I’d chipped enough ice off it to get off the drive. Started first time in spite of the cold, although I had to unlock it with the key. It will probably need front brake pads before its next visit, he thinks. No big deal. And the remote had warmed up enough to lock it when I got home.
It’s curious how a small, cheap car brings out the playground bully in a certain type of driver. Given the cold, I pootled carefully — but no slower than I would have done in another car — along the twisty country road to the test centre, much of which has a 30 limit anyway. Matey in a black Mercedes GL-something had to crawl all over me and perform a risky overtake on a straight bit through a village. Pretty sure he’d just have followed the CLS.

I feel the same in the Punto. People who would stay well back if I was in my car, decide to drive as if they want to inspect the contents of the boot when I'm in the Punto. Today was just as bad even with the snow on the ground.
