I wouldn't buy a car in Liverpoo; the hubcaps will certainly be missing....
Nice car that Corolla and unless he is going inside the ULEZ, who cares?

Well thats the thing innit, perhaps it would be wiser to future proof a car in case he goes to a University in a city which implements a ULEZ. Than again, cheap car, get a replacement if necessary. Still shopping around and have come up with this which might be a better option for the same money: www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202109137332582It's already got a name. Schlomo.

Great plate. Shlomo is the Hebrew for Solomon. So you are very wise to buy the car....
And those Mk1 i30's were great cars as well.

Great plate. Shlomo is the Hebrew for Solomon. And the plate's owner (or, more accurately, the person who owns the right to use it) is well aware of that. Don't expect to see it on the car when (if) you collect it.

I'm sure I could provide some appropriate Hebrew words for Al to learn, to persuade the owner to let the plate go as well.
He will need to grow a long white beard and learn how to stroke it in a suitable manner whilst giving an impression of someone doing you a favour by taking the car off your hands.

It’s not Hebrew but I’ve learned that Schlange means ‘snake’ in German. Which makes sense given the similar Yiddish word we’re familiar with. Probably not the first word Vić should try from behind his beard, though.

Also slang in some dialects for the snake of the trouser variety.
Don't ever ask for mushy peas !!!

My guess would be that it isn't a private plate but just the ordinary one the car was originally registered on. They look like they're the original dealer plates from Eden Hyundai. And given that the car is being sold by a dodgy bomb site dealer, I don't think the previous owner will have an interest in the plate any more. I bet he's just bought it at an auction or taken it from a main dealer's trade in stock.

They look like they're the original dealer plates from Eden Hyundai. They may be, but is Eden Hyundai in Scotland? Given the age and type of the car, it’s possible that the previous owner is dead and the executors didn’t bother to retain the private plate. But it’s more likely that the dealer hasn’t yet bothered to make up new ones with its ordinary R_10 ___ number.

Still not convinced it's a private plate. Maybe the car was re-sold second hand sometime from an Eden dealership, who fitted their plates to it, but it had originally been registered in Scotland.
The MOT history back to its first one is for this car on this plate.
I'm going to have to buy it now to find out, aren't I?

Yes - and then find a Shlomo or a Shloime (a more Yiddish pronunciation of the same) to sell the plate to. I bet I can find you several; shall we say 50% of the price as commission??

There may be other conditions attached to doing that. 😖
(Afterthought: perhaps that should be ‘detached’.)
