>>Well, it “clattered” all the way to Lincoln this morning and recorded 61.3 mpg...Not bad for such an agricultural engine in a big automatic car I’d say.
Do you reckon one that had the full weight wheels all round would do as well?

I need to investigate the Murano's fuel consumption. i.e. pay attention. It is truly bloody awful around town, though I cannot quantify "bloody awful". I took it out to the beach the other day, which is a steady 100km freeway run. When I filled it up it said it's range was more than 550km which remained consistent all the way back into town. After a week of town use I filled it up last night and now it's predicted range is 320km. I knew it was bad in town, but that's awful. I shall pay closer attention. Though that only means taking the computer's word for it, I can't be arsed to actually do more than that. A heavy petrol engined car doing 200 miles per tank is not unusual. Similar economy from my 3.0l Outback. Always had to think about my next visit to the petrol station at 180 miles of urban/suburban driving.

That's next gen electric car range. 2019 Leaf will go 250 miles, I'm willing to bet. Bye bye, fossil fuel.

Whilst I am a supporter of EVs, I can't recharge in a couple of minutes and I can't carry an extra couple of cans of charge with me when I'm in the mountains.
It'll be a very, very long time before it's totally bye bye, fossil fuel. Certainly in larger, relatively unpopulated countries. England is 395 people per sq km. Chile is 24. If you exclude the city of Santiago it's 11.
