Following on from the MPV or really MPV thread that ended up at a Mustang I've now ordered my toy which will get me back and forth to work while the weather is bike unfriendly.
The bosses car will still need replacing at the end of the year but I'll pick that up later.
I wanted the 5.0 Mustang but I didn't want to wait until next spring or later for what will be a new car in production. Having had my Volvo S60 from first year of manufacture I've now got a rule never to have a car from year 1.
So, I've gone for a Focus RS. RS models usually buck the Ford over a cliff residuals and the one I've ordered has a sunroof Humph as the roof lining is blacker than the blackest coal hole.
Added on the easy driver pack, RS comfort pack, winter pack, alarm, tinted rear windows, sunroof and 5x2 wheels with sticky tyres. Just shy of 5000€ in options.
Dunno what I was thinking as I usually don't do hatchbacks.
Hopefully, will keep my adrenalin fix happy while my bike is tucked up in the garage.

I drove some kind of a warmish hatch the other day. It was a very good car, but I realised not my sort of thing anymore. I like wafting, I sometimes pootle, its quite rare for me to "make aggressive progress". I carry stuff as well.
Having said that I think the Focus is considerably larger than the car I drove, so perhaps that makes a difference.

Added on the easy driver pack... Is that the one that tilts the seat inwards, so that you can peer over the dashboard and rest one hand on top of the wheel? 😛

No, it's the "easy driver" pack WDB, you know the one where you don't actually have to lower the driver's door window and put your arm out to hold the roof on... 😉

'Easy driver pack' is one of those modern marketing euphemisms, and actually means 'passenger ejector seat'. Out through the sunroof, whoch is presumably why Humph has one.

It's the active city stop that most cars have as standard these days, rear park assist - meh! and folding door mirrors though I prefer the image built up here of reclined seat, window open holding the roof on and sum banging choons init. Looking at the insurance policy no one under the age of 30 is allowed to drive it. It's the car not the people that are insured here. Just need to get my baseball cap out and practice wearing it back to front while shading my eyes with my hand and I'll fit right in.

But it could be as much fun, there's a video of an RS vs a 5.0 Mustang, the Mustang just catches the Focus before the quarter mile. There are a couple of tuning kits available to boost the Focus to 400hp. Just need to work out how to man maths justify it to the financial controller...

The press describe the Focus ride as firm in standard mode though after the summer riding my bike I think most cars will be limo like by comparison. I don't carry much, a laptop in a rucksack during the week and the odd crate of beer or water at the weekend is about the sum of it. We're planning a trip to Scotland in October with a run from Edinburgh to the ferry to Islay, that drive is screaming take the Focus.

It is AWD which is permanent.
It can transfer all power to the rear axle where there are two clutches which can send 100% of the power to a single rear wheel.
The drift mode backs off the track stiff suspension making it easy to catch when the back end starts to slide.
Adjustable dampers and steering too. It's quite different from the ST.
