300 miles over 2 days in a new Mazda 3 2.0 Skyactive automatic this week.
Lovely interior - not dissimilar to a 3-series in my eyes, but the drivetrain was ultimately a bit disappointing. No turbo of course, so it needs a good stab of the accelerator to pick up speed. Not a slow car by any means, but just didn’t feel as responsive as I would like. Great fuel economy though.
Not bad at all, but not for me.

A new low this week: 2 days rental of a “Hyundai i20 or similar” from Enterprise has turned out to be an ageing Mitsubishi Mirage with nearly 60,000 miles on the clock! Didn’t think rental cars stayed on the fleet that long?! And it’s more like the size of an i10.
Won’t rent with this outfit again!

I may have missed something but why do you rent so often?

Wow, you are a demanding customer. Respect!
I hope there’s a big tip for the concierge.

David Mellor, a horse, a football strip and a Mancunian surveyor, all in the same room?
I don't really want to think about this anymore...

It's a joke. Just need the priest, imam and rabbi to complete it...

Whatever you all do, don’t walk into a bar. We could be here all night.

Well, I complained politely about the clapped-out Mitsubishi when I returned the keys at Christchurch airport, and received a $50 refund without any quibbles! Good customer service, perhaps I will use that rental company again next time after all!

We have booked a week in Iceland for end of August. Going up north for the first few days so have rented a Golf or similar size vehicle. I wonder what I'll get..?

Am currently spending 8 days in Denmark with a new Skoda Fabia estate with the 1.0 petrol turbo and DSG gearbox. Very smooth and impressively nippy, it actually feels like one of the old VAG tdi’s to drive. The autobox changes up very early (1200-1400 revs) and the turbo boost or torque kicks in. Alas it also does so with a very faint vibration which is reminiscent of the old diesel lump!
Usual VAG-clone solid interior; just change the badges and call it a Polo I presume. Base model, no satnav or reversing camera.
Wouldn’t buy one with my own money, but they seem to be everywhere here so I guess the Danes do..!
