Well, that went well, Mrs May. Keep saying it’s the EU’s fault that your proposal is unworkable and I’m sure it’ll all turn out fine. Brexit: EU must compromise or no deal, says minister www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-45596470

Brexit: EU must compromise or no deal, says minister www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-45596470...odd really that the usual suspect media are blaming the EU for rejecting as unworkable a plan that almost no-one in her own party, let alone the wider UK, thinks is workable either.... ...and I don't think I'm a great fan of Macron, but it is about time someone 'senior' challenged the overall basis of how we got here ("liars").

The headlines are terribly anti EU... what a surprise.
How May thought the EU would agree to her deal is beyond my comprehension.

PM statement incoming...
Resignation?
Election?
Pig headed refusal to look facts in the face and claim we'll get our own way and everyone else is just a bully and wah wah wah?
Place your bets, les jeux sont faits.

Rien ne va plus....

Pathetic, embarassingly pathetic.
Actually one of the most embarassing bits is the fact that the rest of the world are laughing at our stupidity.

Not ours - just the government and May in particular. To say she's sticking with her Chequers deal when she's been told it won't be accepted is idiotic. Or is there a plan B and always was. You'd have to hope so.

On Thursday I have lunch with David Mundell. Is there any point anybody here would particularly like made?
It needs to be a proper point, not just a whine or a stating of the BBO, and needs to be in line with my own views, which I think are well known. But if there is a point you want delivered in my own inimitable style, then I am happy to oblige. it is a very small lunch, so I will certainly have the opportunity for 1:1 conversation.

I’d like to challenge him on the insistence on ‘respecting the result’ of the referendum, in the face of the evidence of blatant corruption on the Leave side. They stole the vote with their overspending, which would be grounds for annulment under the Venice rules the UK is signed up to, and yet nobody in the Conservative Party (and not enough in the Labour Party either, but that’s not his area) seems brave enough to acknowledge that. Certainly not my Tory MP, who hid behind the police investigation into the individuals, a separate issue.
Are you in the UK? Conference season is an odd time for a senior politician to be in South America.

I agree absolutely with what you say but perhaps I would address it from a different angle;
"Does respecting the result, for whatever it is worth, outweigh saving the UK from disaster, especially when one accepts that the campaign promises cannot possibly be delivered?"
Can you live with that?

Can you live with that? Allow me one last tweak: "Does respecting the result, in spite of the significant legal and ethical question marks over it, outweigh saving the UK from disaster, especially when one accepts that the campaign promises cannot possibly be delivered?" I think the overspending and misconduct (not to mention the foreign interference) are a bigger concern even than the side of the bus.

I'll get as close to your question as I can. I'll let you know how it goes.
