.........I like privacy glass because I often use my car as a van and it offers a bit more, well, privacy I suppose. ....I bet the mattress in the back is a tighter fit than in a van, though.......... Maybe, but an estate car gives him an extra pair of doors to open: more options for bracing himself against a tree. I've picked up mental images here I shall never be able to erase.

I only come into contact with trees inadvertently these days. Narrowly missed one today as it happens. Well, most of me did... 🤕

I like privacy glass; it makes no discernible difference to my ability to see and makes it very difficult to see what is in the cars unless one presses one's nose against the window.
What's not to like?

One kerb, singular, once, one single kerb ok, slight, almost imperceptible scratch, once, one time, in 42 years, one kerb, one wheel, once...ok? 🙄

What's not to like? I've explained all this: the difference between a bright view forward and a dim one in the mirror. And the adjustment I have to make when changing lanes and suddenly having to deal with a darkened view behind the pillar. Those who sit further forward in the car may not notice this bit. Bit like those too short to be bothered by sunroofs. 🚙🚘 Anyway, we have the luxury of choice. Takes all sorts, eh?

Just back from my own trip to Berlin.
And tomorrow morning I have to go straight back to Terminal 2 and fly to Bavaria for the rest of the week.
But Berlin was fabulous. I’ll have to tell you another time.

You seem to be in Germany a lot at the moment. Don't they know how to work their computers there then?

I don’t really do technical stuff these days. I do what the industry calls ‘solutions’, which is a bit like people in your trade making sure the bag matches the shoes.
Only most of what I sell is services, so you’d bettef throw in polishing and dry cleaning too.
Anyway, Berlin was personal. Me and Simon Rattle.

Hanging out with Scousers now? That won't go down well in certain market towns.

We are making a second attempt to visit Berlin this summer after last year's aborted effort. Booked a walking tour of the bits of Jewish interest and a bike tour of general things. Anything you recommend WDB, other than the Scouser with a bad haircut?

Yes: the €7.70 Tageskarte that gets you a full (till 3am) day's use of all the S- and U- trains, buses, trams, and even the Wannsee ferry, although we ran out of time to get out that far. We bought them each day and got our money's worth both times. And register early for a visit to the Reichstag cupola. It's free but you'll need to queue for it and present Ausweis - although our photo driving licences served that purpose. We booked yesterday for 0915 today and it was blissful. There's an audio guide too if you like that sort of thing, but we don't. It doesn't get crowded inside as the numbers are strictly controlled, but once you're in, no one shoos you out - although it gets pretty warm under all that glass. And buy a polarizing filter for your camera. Used mine for the first time today.

How does a polarising filter differ to a neutral density (ND) filter? My Sony RX100 has the latter.
