Is the problem caused by not making enough to sell rather than simply not enough buyers?
I have no understanding of Polestar technology. Last year, when I rented one, someone here queried if it was the RWD or FWD version? Why would you make two versions of a 2WD car with same body?

This morning I'm at work thanks to my Volvo, it was supposed to be with my EV but it's thrown its toys, again.
Down to 23% and 105kms range my wife plugged it in as usual. My commute is around 80kms and has taken around 20% out of the battery previously, those numbers are a bit too close for my comfort so decided an overnight charge was in order. The car has charged overnight for months with no issues, starting at 00:30 usually completing some time between 4:15 and 4:45. Checked the app this morning after the alarm went off 105kms range 23% SoC, bugger! The plug is in as normal, the wallbox is functioning as usual, the blue lights on the dashboard are off, they usually flash blue if waiting for a scheduled charge. Can only assume it started at 00:30 and aborted for whatever reason. I'll investigate this evening. That's three or four times now it has let one of us down, really starting to think Toyota Prius PHEV for Mrs bpg, I really can't be 'arissed with this anymore. I'm running a 13 year old 165,000km Volvo for when, not if, a 45 month old, 45,000km EV fails to spark into life for whatever reason. Asking a dealer and KIA Germany to fix it is like handing an OBDII adapter and my smartphone to my dog.

Last year, when I rented one, someone here queried if it was the RWD or FWD version? Why would you make two versions of a 2WD car with same body? The RWD version replaced the FWD one for the 2024 model year. Since there was already a two-motor 2, it was simply (?) a matter of deciding which motor to leave out of the 2WD one.

Now I check it carefully. The car itself is set up to accept charge from 23:50 to 05:10 and I do it this way (and not setting the wall charger to do this), because when I plug in at say 20:00, the car puts a message on the dash to say it will start charging at 23:50 and give me the day as well.

That's pretty much the setup we have.
This last week my wife has reported lost radio stations and has had to retune. I checked the scheduled charge times were still as setup, which they were, and have resent to the car to see if that fixes it. I'll check the menus in the car when I get home.
When it works it's great, when it doesn't it gets all Spanish (Carlos).

Relayed to the 12V problem and consequent lost settings, perhaps?
I’ve noticed the iX is a bit fussier than the i3 when connecting it for a timed charge, but compensates by complaining immediately if it doesn’t like how I’ve plugged it in. The BMW Wallbox is a simple on-or-off device, activated with an RFID card, but the iX prefers me to do the activation before plugging the cable into the car, whereas the i3 doesn’t care.
But if I get it wrong, I get angry red lights on the doors and an app message saying ‘Charging not started’. That usually means unplugging and repeating the process in the right sequence, but once the lights turn blue, it’s never failed to start what it calls a deferred charge, and to confirm with app messages. Like you, I’d be Quite Cross if it did.

What the hell is all this. Never a single concern with a Leaf. Set timer, plug it in, arrive to charged car next day. Drive.

12v has behaved itself since the battery was replaced. I check it once/month, the little service window is always green, a good sign.
The manufacturer claims they do not do OTA updates for our vehicle but the MMI screen has been updated several times without a trip to the workshop or me downloading anything and loading a thumb drive.
I'm not talking icons moving around it's full screen changes, different graphics, menus moved, different information. It will be going in for a service next month so let's see what corporate BS is spouted this time. I'm tempted to call their bluff and ask if they are not doing OTA updates and I'm not doing it whether they have a data breach and the data commission need to be informed.
Edit: it's the future, Al. Your new car will probably have an app and modem onboard. It will be reporting every button press, journey taken and DTC triggered. If you're tempted to do a bit of uber-ing it will also count bottom burps.

Interesting that you use an RFID card Dubya. I just leave my charger 'available', as it were. I can connect it to the WiFi but CBA. I can isolate it from the power supply and I do that if the house is empty for a period of days.

If it is not the manufacturer and it is not me then there is a problem that needs investigating. Anywho, the car charged last night after I resent the schedule from the app. I checked in the car last night to confirm the car matched the app and it did its thing overnight. I woke up this morning to a bright light* and checked the status of the car on my phone. I thought I had been transported a century or two down the road as there appears to have been a huge breakthrough in battery chemistry. *The bright light was Mrs bpg turning on the main bedroom light reminding me it was Friday and I have to go to work. It's still 2024, the above screenshot is just the usual SNAFU we are still living with in the brave new world of EV.

The Civic does too, there's an "OK" button to press on the screen every time it starts to agree data stuff.

Ours is on the front of the house, barely a car length from the pavement. While it does seem vanishingly unlikely that anyone else would pull up on the drive and plug in, it’s no great inconvenience to use the card a couple of times a week.
