Anyone want to know about tyre wear on Westfields or large estate cars? Reckon I could work that in. 😉

That would be more wrong than the first prize winner for wrong things on national wrong day in wrong land. 😬

An electric Lotus 7 or a 3-wheeler Morgan would be great. And I forgot there was the "rip-off" Westfield and Caterham doing the Lous 7's still I knew someone ho built a Hyabusa engined Caterham. I bet that was fun.

Just sat inside a Peugeot 3008. The dealership won't have an electric version for me to try for a couple of weeks and I thought I would sit inside and have a play.
Clearly designed as a multi-fuel chassis because the example I sat in had a petrol engine and therefore suffered the consequences of that in the cabin space and layout. But nevertheless it's very comfortable and although I really like the spacious and airy feel of the Ioniq 5, I was similarly taken by the cockpit-like feel of the Peugeot. In fact I could imagine Saab would have produced something very similar at they remained in business.
The interior trim was quite interesting with the usual swaythe of black plastic replaced by a grey marl material which will no doubt reduce reflections on the windscreen. Lots of storage space and various USB connections but they were all standard USB rather than the C-type which I think is disappointing now.
It will be interesting to compare this to the Explorer EV the Renault Scenic EV, especially as these two were built purely as EV models.

Looks nicely designed, although there seem to be question marks against space and performance. I think single-motor e3008s will be FWD too, if that’s important — which it may well not be.

I think I'm going to hang on to my Leaf for the foreseeable now, it just does local runs and it'll do that in style for a long time to come, so why spend more for shiny. Will also be keeping the Civic for a few years, especially after dropping £500 on those Cross Climates. Thinking is that in 5 years time we could feasibly go down to one long range, medium sized EV. And maybe a practical classic like an MGB as a back up and fun car. And retire shortly after.

Do everything in your power to make that last sentence possible. I should have bailed out 5 years ago. Now that I have, I can’t imagine what I was thinking of by drudging on.

Keenly aware, just got to get 2 dustbin lids through University...5 years to go, then it's sell the house, downsize and somehow live off income from the equity until pensions kick in. Would bin it today if I could.

…And maybe a practical classic like an MGB as a back up and fun car. The more you cycle, the less you’ll like ‘classic’ cars, especially cheap ones maintained (cough) on a shoestring budget. The lungful of unburned petrol as one passes is enough to put you right off.

That is fair enough. I wouldn't run one unless it was acceptably clean, I think maybe even some kind of "restomod" with a modern engine and gearbox dropped in. But it would literally be doing hundreds of miles a year, rather than thousands, so I'm not overly minded to feel tooooo guilty.

Well, you know we went through the shall we have a sports car again phase. In the end it was clear that it wasn’t going to be used enough to justify it.

Sure, if you are going to keep his'n'hers moderns, there's not much you'd do with a sports car. But with only one modern on the driveway... actually maybe an MX5 would be a better idea than a classic, but part of the fun of a classic would be going to summer shows.

Get that of course, but it feels like everything we like doing involves taking stuff with us.
