For those of you who have access to one or both of these - what ORIGINAL series (ie not just any old film or ancient Dr Who series) have you enjoyed?
For me, obviously House of Cards on Netflix,(political shenanigans), I liked Lilyhammer( mafia in Norway shenanigans) and I'm enjoying Narcos (South American drug dealing shenanigans). Boss, with Kelsey Grammar being VERY dark was excellent too, although rather a surfeit of naughty bits (more political shenanigans).
On Amazon, The Last Man on Earth was fun, enough to leave me annoyed you have to PAY for the second series (post-apocalyptic light hearted romp, feels like a bit like Ricky Gervais's humour in terms of awkwardness)
Anything that's made your monthly sub worthwhile? Maybe I'm the only one here who subs (to them both) though.

I get access to any Global TV (inc streamed services like Netflix) shortly (about two hours) after its screening.
My two last favs were "Bosch" (series one and two), very well shot, gritty, almost film noir in colour, tightly scripted, well acted and good rewrite of the books to screenplay. Cant wait for series three
And "The man in the high castle" Fascinating to watch for its warped historical context and depiction thereof, great plot outline with much promise but a real cop out and a bit muddled.

Oh such fun we had when I suggested "Boss" to a colleague who came back after the weekend, bleary eyed and shivering, and said he'd enjoyed it, and we started to discuss it and the looks of puzzlement on our respective countenances must have been a joy to behold because it wasn't until we were talking about episode three that we realised he'd misheard me and watched all of Bosch instead. Which I haven't seen.
Must try High Castle - that's that Nazi thing isn't it.

Breaking Bad was good. Man in the High Castle too (doesn't follow the book it's based on) - there is to be a series 2.

Just couldn't get into Breaking Bad. I tried twice I think, but the first episode didn't hold my attention at all. Seemed to be trying to be realistic but the characters to my mind were totally unrealistic and didn't act in a convincing manner to me at all.
Having said that I don't really recall specifics.

I never really got into Breaking Bad either, I certainly never found it to be particularly merit worthy. I suppose I watched 3 episodes over its 5 year run so I'm hardly an expert.
I very much enjoyed Person of Interest although it was a bit variable in the middle. It ended well.
The first season of Crossing Lines was excellent, though I wouldn't bother with season 2 if I were you.
And The Bridge (The US version) was enjoyable also.

We're just breaking into Person of Interest. Hasn't grabbed me yet, although it's amusing enough. The Invincible Fighty Man stuff wears thin quickly; I hope there's a bit more development on offer.

I think Season 1 is "amusing enough". Also, Season 3 verges on the silly at times. But overall I really enjoyed it. And the invincible fighty man gets beaten up quite often by better fighty men as the show goes on.

Peaky Blinders.
Just 'discovered' it this year. Think it is the best thing out of the UK in a while. Certainly knocks Downturn Abbey into a hat.

Time for a new thread, methinks.

Stranger Things is good too. Well I think so. Very nostalgic 80s feel to all of it.

Stranger Things was recommended to me only a couple of days ago. I managed nearly a minute before thinking I'd move on. I might come back to it though, when I've finished the current stuff.
I don't generally take to sci-fi horror, but perhaps it has a bit more depth than endless scuttling about and hissing in corridors. And I mean the film, not my usual day. Although...
Couple of more appealing to me suggestions in this thread though, thanks.

No spoilers please. I'm up to episode 4 at the moment, having got an Amazon stick last week.
The trouble and I both read the Dick book over the summer holidays. The wife is quite "ooked" out by the show, she's a bit of a Naziophobe (who isn't I suppose but her hatred is visceral, even though German soldiers saved her mother's life from the Ustashi in WWII).

I never read the book but did look up a synopsis afterwards. The series is really good.
I've seen a few episodes of something new/original on Netflix. Spotless - the subject matter is different. The main character cleans up the crime scenes... and a plot is wrapped around it. I tried the first and to me it was better than expected.
Sad to admit I'll watch some of the Marvel stuff. Jessica Jones I gave up on but reviews had it down as different - and it was. It was okay.
Still not watched the US/Netflix version of House of Cards. Narcos sounds worth a watch.
One series that's been on channel 4 for ages that I just don't get - The Big Bang Theory. I see loads of people at the gym in the evenings watching it too.
