It as bought in Greece I seem to recall. I accept tho it may have destroyed some brain cells at the time.

My most recent was Zeppi's Bajtra Liqueur, made in Malta from prickly pears (or cactus figs, as I know, from the label, that they're called in most other European languages.) Good over ice as an aperitif, it says, or in a kir.
If you can't get to Malta, pop into Boots and buy a bottle of Calpol. Cheaper, and much the same in colour and taste.

By coincidence my nomination of Unicum Zwack has the 'flavour' of crushed paracetamol tablets.

This Greek stuff with gold flakes I drunk, (yes the whole bottle) had the flavour of fishermans friends* but with none of the subtlety. You had to be drunk to start on it.
Distilled in their used seaboots, and filtered thorough their socks I think.

Worst tipple I've tried which was meant to be the local speciality was a Kumquat liqueur in Greece. It was horrible. I'd prefer to drink cough mixture!

Zwack! My secretary bought me some from Budapest a few years ago. I think she was wondering what it was and saw a small kosher symbol on the back. .....I wish she hadn't! Firewater is less painful.

I think the secret is to drink just enough on holiday for the desire for strange liquids not to kick in.
I seldom bring spirits/liqueurs back, but definitely wine and/or beer if in the right place. (I have been known to transport grappa).
Stopped on the Meuse above Charleville, then in a champagne grower's backyard near Vertus. Given the latter cost €5 for the night, it would have been both churlish and impolite not to buy a bottle, so we did! 1er Cru Blanc de Blancs at €14 per bottle, and as it was pre-chilled, we drank it then and there, having just had a long and hot walk to Vertus and back. Lovely jubbly.
Last night was an official Aire at Semur en Auxois, which allowed us to walk in and spend the evening at a Restaurant with the church 'en face'. Not a cheap evening out, but an excellent meal and accompanying bottle of Pinot Noir (not usually my favourite) offset by the Aire being free.
Currently chilling out (not really as it is nearly 30C) at a campsite not far away, planning a cycle along the Canal de Bourgogne tomorrow (and some more tasting).
Life's a bitch (and then you marry one!)

Sounds blissful, T&E; maybe even worth sleeping in a tin with a chemical lav.
It's raining here.

maybe even worth sleeping in a tin with a chemical lav. ...aye, reserved only for a special few....... Now will it be the Corbieres, or the Cotes du Rhone, ce soir. Decisions, decisions...

...Coteaux de Languedoc, as it happens.
Did 54 miles out and back along the canal today (sans assistance electrique for Humph); beautiful cycling, and very quiet.
So far very impressed with what we've seen of Burgundy, rather better than the pleasant but over hyped Dordogne.
The weather helps, of course 😁

Not had a lot of spare time to post, but it has turned into a bit of a "wine tour". on to Alsace, Freiburg, Schwarzwald, and now the Pfälz. A new area for us, and we will be back. Currently parked in a vineyard on the edge of the hills and a pretty village, all for €6 per night (I think electric is included if I could be *rsed to hook up. Very friendly Winzer invited me to watch "the machine" pick his reds this morning. Awesome thing. 12 mile walk in the forest/hills, now back supping his not so dusty Kabinett Riesling (€4.30 a litre) in wall to wall sun. ....well, someone has to...

...and the theme continues with a couple of nights on the Mosel from tomorrow. That'll be more Riesling then. 😁 ...and the weather forecast seems to be stuck on dry and sunny until we set off home. Have to say it's been a good'un, this.
