Let’s hope so. I’ve got a hugely busy period coming up and this is an arseache I could do without.

My wife's car never gets a decent run so in a cold spell the battery will run flat. I took it for a run some time ago and then the next time my wife went to use it, it would not start. I tried it the next day and it started - but it was a bit warmer. I know the alternator is fine, because the output shows 14v or more. And the battery does charge.
In the end I put it on the charger (still connected) for a few hours to see if it held charge and it did. So topped it up a few times now. I'll have to check the voltage again soon. It's not been used for over a week.
This is why I read up and found out what voltage is considered 'flat'. When it last didn't start it couldn't turn the starter and voltage across the battery was showing 11.7v or thereabouts.
I'm not going to take it for a long run but will top up with the charger and then monitor to see how it hold it's charge. It's less than 5 years old so probably still under warranty (Varta I think).
For us not such a problem - it's the second car which is used infrequently.

I've been popping my Civic and the Corolla on a battery conditioner every so often this winter. Seems to be doing the trick.
I remember my old E of not so fond memory went through a couple of batteries in my time with it. Then, after I'd replaced it a second time, I found out I was supposed to be using AGM batteries, so it was probably my fault, as usual. Oh well, by that time I know the car wasn't going to stay with me for long so whoever go it next inherited a cheap ordinary battery on it. Had to replaced the auxiliary battery once too, that was fun, buying a motorcycle battery which came with the acid separate, and I had to fill it myself.
It's things like this that bring home to me what a reliable and hassle free car the Civic is.

This appears to be nothing to do with the car. The original battery lasted nine years. This one, also AGM, failed in nine months because it’s defective.
That said, MrsB1 is now suggesting we might accelerate looking for the next car. We’ll see, but we have a York trip in a couple of weeks, so we need the CLS ready for that.

I reckon it’s the drivers. Has to be doesn’t it? Stands to reason. Mine’s fine. 😈

I suppose that’s the only rational explanation. Silly me!

I have a feeling this is not going to be a rewarding experience. I have already lost 25 minutes listening to National’s hold music, occasionally punctuated by a voice wondering why I’m talking to them and not to … whoever. Customer Service seems to be a slogan rather than a function.
I stuck my invoice and the AA report in an email and went back to work.

I wonder if a visit to the local Halfords might elicit a quicker response and at least a human response?

Can’t? Don’t know. Won’t? Certainly.
