I like Jimnys, I also like Renegades and I think I might like Aygo Xs. There, I’ve said it. Do your worst! 😉

They don’t do an ordinary one any more. Didn’t know that. But the world isn’t likely to run out of them for a while yet. I didn't know that either. But the newest are still only 2 years old, and cheaper than the X Humph posted: www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202310022575087

Not linked to anything here, my MiL had a 2018 Yaris Hybrid. Really economical and horrible to drive. Had the steering feedback of a Nintendo Wii.

No, it must be one of the very last cars that didn't have the stuck on tablet screen.
It didn't even have SatNav thinking about it. It was cheaper and easier to use a Brodit clip, or similar, clipped to the centre air vents and use a phone. The screen was too small to be of any real use other than to tell you if the electrons were flowing to or from the front wheels.

…then again, I’ve just been out in the estate car, needed/wanted to shift something big. It just worked and was nice. 🙄

The Jimny was/is a good car but the current model only sold as a 'car' in Europe for a short time before it was pulled from the market due to emissions I think. But was/is still sold as a 'van'. Really good cars. The previous model was a proper 4x4 with low gears for off-roading.

Do you have the Yaris Cross in the UK? That Aygo X looks very similar…

Yes, we have the Yaris cross too. Quite a bit more expensive than the Aygo.

The RAV 4 also shares the look of the bulbous wings. I drove down the hill from Jerusalem yesterday afternoon and then tootled around my town on the coast. I assume it has a seven speed DSG type gearbox. Whatever, it sounds like a good manual box and changes gear very smoothly. It is so much better and controllable than the 'box in the Clubman. You can properly use engine braking in the AygoX whereas the Mini effectively refuses to let you do it, in case you breach the redline by a tiny amount for less than a second.
Not impressed by the rear doors which have a very pointy trailing edge so making it hard in car parks and possibly banging your head... In some respects if they were going to make a slightly sitty uppy Aygo, make it more sitty up so its easier to get into the back seats.

Hmm could well be. Much better than the CVT in the Juke we had ten years ago.

Sorry - back in Blighty on Sunday night...
I drove it for about 320km (so say 200 miles) the vast majority of which was on motorway. It consumed just under 6 gallons (but I brimmed the car when I handed it back and I reckon it was not full when I got it), so the worst case was 33mpg and the best say 40mpg.
You could say I am disappointed in that. I did a little (no more than say 30km) of urban driving and driving up the hill to Jerusalem at 3,800ft, starting from sea level, takes a lot out of a small engined car which has to work hard to maintain the speed of other vehicles. But even so I thought I would get better, especially as the drive down uses no fuel at all.
However despite that, I liked it. It's not sitty uppy but you don't drop down into it which I liked. Nippy, clear controls in the most part. A few minor dislikes but they could all be solved by software rather than a redesign.
I would have another one as a rental. Whilst the i10 and Picanto twins are that bit more sophisticated, I prefer the driving position of the AygoX.
