Yes, and lovely it was too, fresh air and sunshine. Had the windows open too at low speeds. Didn’t die. I’ll spend enough time cooped up in a box in due course.

Autocar reckoned the Aygo X is massively overpriced (it's a cut down Yaris these days) and the Hyundai i10 is a far better package.
The one they treated was almost £20,000! Equivalent i10 was about £15,000 I think. Better still is the Dacia Sandero of course.

Would rather have the Aygo than some bloated 2 tonne EV in any case. I doubt that many Aygo drivers bother with prat plates either!

Bit of a false comparison there, dixi. Plenty of small EVs available as an alternative to this, I doubt anyone considering an Aygo X would buy an Audi E-Tron W*nkpanzer SUV instead.

A lot of emotional language there, Norm. Cynical? As I keep pointing out, even if you could reliably get 60mpg out of an Aygo X, it would still be using 60 percent more energy than the least efficient EV, driven outrageously. And about 2.5 times as much as Vić’s Leaf or my i3, neither of which you could call ‘bloated’. There is simply no comparison.

Purely on looks I'd have the E-Tron before the Aygo X. A long, long way before. And if I lived in a place where the charging infrastructure was in place, I'd def. want the E-Tron.
I see it says a range of 220 miles - I wonder how "real world" that is. In any case, it wouldn't work for me as my only car, so a second car would have to have an engine. And if I have to have a second non-electric car, then I guess I'd want it as efficient as possible - hence the reason why ICEs and their improvement/development remain important for years to come.

The Aygo probably costs only a third of the price and can travel 3 times the distance on its “inferior” fuel source.
Am starting to hate the European manufacturers of EVs. All that wealth of experience, R&D resources, and huge budgets and all they can come up with are £60k+ pastiches of their ICE vehicles for the wealthy sanctimonious. Don’t particularly like Tesla but look at the innovation that he’s brought to the industry. The Europeans can’t even create a frunk with all the unused space under the bonnet in most cases!
If we ever let them in, the Chinese will clean-up with their sub-£20k affordable, efficient, urban EV runarounds. And surely that’s the polluted market we should all be addressing first?
